Hello Aspirant,
As far as I know along with clearing the overall cutoff you should also have to clear the sectional cutoff of every as well. Sectional cut off evey section is lower than the overall cutoff but it has to cleared if you want to get admission in SJMSOM, Since SJMSOM is the top college for management in Mumbai so it's has its high criteria set for getting admission.
But don't worry cutoff is based on the level of difficulty of the paper, So if you have work hard for the exam you won't be having any problems in clearing the cut off for different sections.
I hope the above information is beneficial for you
All the best.

Dear Rajesh, you must have heard of the very well known phase "Survival of the Fittest". This title is very apt for placement scenario in IIT Bombay in this field. Last year only two to three have got placed. ONGC didn't visit the campus to hire the students. In the beginning only 4-5 core companies come and hire only 5 students from a batch of 50. So it's just the case of survival of the Fittest. Frankly telling you, nobody remains unemployed after leaving such a tremendous academy. Generally students get job through GATE. They get settle within an year or two.
If you want you can try for non-core areas also.
All the best
Hope this helps
My college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments from both academics and sports activities. It has Hostels for all the students from btech, mtech to phds so we don't have to look for the Pg outside the college.
It is not hidden from anyone about IIT Bombay and its extraordinary infrastructure, the hostels, the departments, the convocation hall, the auditoriums, the playgrounds, the student activity centre, and what not, everything is just fab. Our campus has 24*7 WiFi. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) was ranked 118th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
Hostels here great to live in. The hostel experience is really memorable for any student. All hostels have 24*7 Wi-Fi access and connectivity. Hostel mess food is also far then that of the other college. Also, the hostels are quite safe and secure from the perspective of a girl students.
