Hello there,

With 85.92 percentile (General Category) in JEE Mains 2025 , getting Mechanical or Electrical in top NITs, IIITs, or DTU is not possible . However, you can target the following colleges:

Best Possible Colleges for Mechanical/Electrical:

  1. IIITs (Low-Chance, Last Rounds/CSAB) – IIIT Agartala, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Bhopal, IIIT Ranchi.

  2. GFTIs – Assam University, Mizoram University, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, etc.

  3. State Government Engineering Colleges

    • UP: MMMUT Gorakhpur (Mechanical)
    • MP: IET DAVV Indore, UIT RGPV Bhopal
    • Delhi: NSUT East/West Campus (Low-Chance, Spot Round)

  4. Private Universities (Good Placements & Infrastructure)

    • Shiv Nadar University
    • LNMIIT Jaipur
    • UPES Dehradun
    • SRM, VIT, MIT-WPU

      Next Steps:
  1. Apply through JoSAA and CSAB counseling for IIITs and GFTIs.

  2. Check state-level counseling in your home state for government colleges.

  3. Consider April JEE attempt if you aim for a better college.

Hello Aspirant

With 77 percentile (General, Non-Home State) in JEE Mains , getting ECE in NITs or IIITs is very difficult as the cutoffs for these institutes are usually much higher (above 90 percentile for General).

Chances in NITs & IIITs:

1. NITs – Unlikely, even in lower NITs.
2. Top/Old IIITs – No chance for ECE.
3. Newer IIITs (Low Chances) – You may try in IIIT Agartala, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Bhopal, or IIIT Ranchi in later rounds or CSAB Special Rounds .

Better Alternatives:

  • GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes) – Some may have ECE seats available.

  • State Government Colleges – Check your state's JEE-based counseling.

  • Private Colleges – Institutes like LNMIIT, Shiv Nadar, UPES, SRM, and MIT Pune offer ECE with JEE scores.

If ECE is your priority, re-attempting JEE in April for a higher percentile is a good option.

To secure a seat at IIIT Bangalore in the SC category, aiming for a JEE Main percentile between 95-97 should be a good target, as this range generally falls within the cutoff for the reserved category. While it's easier to get into IIIT Bangalore with the SC reservation compared to the general category, you still need to put in significant effort to achieve a high percentile.

  • Percentile range:

For SC category, a percentile between 95-97 is usually sufficient to secure a seat at IIIT Bangalore, depending on the specific course and year.

  • AI program at IIIT Bangalore:

Yes, IIIT Bangalore is considered a good choice for pursuing AI, with dedicated courses and research opportunities in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

  • Hard work required:

While the SC reservation provides an advantage, you still need to work hard to achieve a high percentile in JEE Mains to secure a good branch at IIIT Bangalore.

Preparing for IIT-JEE is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistency, dedication, and a positive mindset are key to success.

Hope this is helpful to you!!!

Hello,

Eligibility for IIITs:

General Criteria for IIITs:

Admission to IIITs is primarily based on your JEE Main rank.

There is usually no strict minimum Class 12 percentage requirement for general JEE-based admissions, but you must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

For general candidates, some IIITs may prefer a 75% aggregate in Class 12 or top 20 percentile in the board exam (this rule was relaxed in some recent years, so check the current year's requirements).

Among IIIT Sonepat, IIIT Surat, IIIT Nagpur, and IIIT Vadodara for Computer Science, Sonepat and Vadodara stand out for better infrastructure and faculty. Surat and Nagpur are growing but may have relatively newer setups. Consider location, placement, and faculty while choosing.

With an NTA score of 80.82, your percentile is approximately around 95-96, but the exact percentile can vary slightly depending on the exam's overall performance. Based on this score, getting into top NITs or IIITs may be challenging, especially for competitive branches like CSE or ECE. However, you may have a chance in other branches or in newer NITs/IIITs. It's advisable to check the previous year's cutoff trends for accurate predictions based on your specific score.

Dear

According to the information transferring your seat from RGUKT Basar (IIIT Basar) to IIIT Hyderabad after completing your PUC-1 course is generally not possible. Both institutions have separate admission processes and criteria. To transfer, you would need to reapply for admission to IIIT Hyderabad through their standard admission process, which usually requires taking entrance exams like JEE Main.

It's always a good idea to contact the admissions office of both institutions for clarity and explore other institutions with more flexible transfer policies if needed.

Thanks.

Dear

According to the information yes, you can apply for admission to IIIT Hyderabad based on your JEE Mains score. However, the application window for admissions through JEE Mains is currently closed. IIIT Hyderabad has specific deadlines for admissions, and it's important to check their official website for the most up-to-date information.
