If we look at previous year's cutoff for B. Tech Mechanical Engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, the closing rank in the last round (6th) for OBC-Home state was 6967. Hence you should aim for a rank at least in the top 6000. I believe you should prefer Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay . Engineering Physics is basically a Engineering Research branch and deals with Physics in Engineering and Application. As far as IIT Bombay is concerned, you shouldnt have any issue regarding Location, Faculty, Infrastructure and Research Facilities. As far as Placements are concerned opportunities in Core Physics sector seem bleak with many students joining Samsung Semiconductor, TSMC, LAM Research and some other companies like Applied Materials and Intel. But many students opt for pursuing Masters or Doctoral Degree post Undergraduate from Faculties of Physics in top US Universities like Princeton, UC Berkeley and Stanford. Besides this IIT Bombay has excellent placements as far as non core sector is concerned and you can always find high paying opportunities in Software/IT/Finance/Consultancy, etc. Perhaps I believe at this Rank you might find other Core or Circuital in many other Top IITs and can also consider them.

see cutoff score fluctuate every year and it varies with certain factors like number of applicants, students category, choice of stream and so on. the cutoff rank for mechanical engineering of VNIT NAGPUR  as per previous years data is as follows:

nits has 50% seats reserve for domicile candidates, as per students review obc category candidates need to secure 93-94 percentile to secure seat in nits. so try to score more marks in upcoming jee main exams.

Sorry to say this but there is very less chance that you can get VNIT Nagpur, as the cutoff rank is around 9500 and your rank might be around 14000. So it is really hard that you can get that college. But there are many more colleges which you can apply at that rank or marks.

Sorry to sat this but it's not possible that you get admission in NIT Nagpur, cause the cutoff rank in NIT Nagpur for general category lies around 25000 for civil branch and less in major branches. So it's not possible.

This is a bit difficult to predict the marks/percentile/rank required in JEE mains to get a seat in nit  as cut off  keeps changing every year  depending upon various factors like  number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the jee main examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.

When we go through previous year trend then ,

In round 6 of josaa counselling 2020 , for sc category  to get computer science engineering , 942 was closing sc rank for gender neutral under home  state quota in vnit nagpur

And 942 sc rank is roughly around 120 marks i. e overall percentile of around 97 percentile and general rank of around 20,000 ,for this you can refer to our page, the link for the same is provided below

But yes cutoff keep changing every year, so to be on the safer side try to get at least 130 marks  in your jee main 2021
