you fairly have channce to get into svnit with chemical engineering if that is in your home state but you have to keep patient and go till the last round of even spot round counsiling.

For CS branch at VNIT,you need around 85 Percentile in jee mains being from gen-pwd home state quota, as per the previous year figures.

For admission in VNIT Nagpur,being from gen-pwd category and home state quota,you need minimum of 83-84 percentile in jee mains exam so as to get CSE branch  as per previous year figures.

it depends on demand. even NIT trichy is one of the top NIT campus but it may not be for CSE. it can be for other branch like EEE,ECE , ETC, ME ..etc.

branch demand varies by location. at IIT campus, even civil and mechanical engineering is in demand when the very same branch is overlooked in private college just because it doesn't have future scope.

Scope is given by college campus and students earn it by skills. That all it matters.

With your 73 percentile your approximate AIR rank would be near about: 234632 and if we compare your rank with the previous year  cutoff of VNIT then with general category you don't have good chances because at max the rank goes till 10000 for Computer Science and Engineering branch for general category while for general PWD category still you don't have chance.

It is difficult to tell you the exact cut off of 2020 but we can predict by seeing the last year cur off. The last year cut off was for Home state General PWD  category was 100 and Other state General Pwd category was 176. But the cut off changes every year as it depends on many factors like Number of students appeared in the exam, Difficulty level of exam, Number of seats available in the college. The cut off may increase or decrease every year. You need to score minimum 80 percentile.

CSE at VNIT closes at around 82 percentile for Gen-pwd student with home state quota,but definitely you have chances at VNIT in some other branches like Chemical, Civil,Mechanical and Metallurgical and Material Engineering.

If you are more into CSE and want seat in Home state only,you can go for IIIT Pune,IIIT Nagpur.
