VNIT Nagpur has got one of the best placement stats in the region. Most importantly, the students who get placed are even offered immediate joining after passing out from the institute. 

There are basically three types of companies visiting the college for mechanical engg. Automobile, power plant and cement companies machine maintenance and non core. 

In 2012 2013 batch in the first section i.e. automobile, companies like Tata, Mahindra, Honda, Bajaj, etc. companies had come offering packages varying from 4.5 to 7.1 lpa.
Whereas in the machine maintenance, there were many companies too. 

In 2013-2014 placements were down a bit on the automobile side, only Bajaj, Hero, Greaves cotton and similar vendors of these companies had come which took 3 to 5 people amounting a very less number of the batch. 4.5 by Greaves to 7.1 lpa by Bajaj was given. Then HUL, Pepsico, Tata Steel offered good packages from 7 to 12 lpa in Tata Steel. Tata Steel took up a past year intern and offered him a pre placement offer.

All in all, the placements are almost 80 percent in the batch and those who don't get placed are either interested in higher studies or are not qualified the 6 pointer criteria.

First of all congratulations for getting those colleges. Speaking collegewise, NIT Nagpur has the upper hand as it is an older college and is in direct control of the central government. The NIRF ranking 2019 for NIT Nagpur is 31 whereas for KJ Somaiya it is 182. You will also get more no. of oppurtunities and exposure in NIT. Companies prefer top NITs over CFTIs when it comes to placements. Speaking of the branches, electrical engineering has higher placement record than chemical and civil engineering. It also opens many paths to research. But, you should analyze your area of interest in each of the branches. Go throught the syllabi, current technological updates, working environments for each of the branches. If you are deeply interested in electrical then there will be no harm in choosing KJ Somaiya. Otherwise, NIT Nagpur will be better. All the Best!

Research both the streams, if you do not know much about what they have to offer in the way of learning, challenges, opportunities and your liking and interests.That should help you decide. Both are good institutes, and as long as you can take the call on the stream, choosing one over the other should not affect you adversely in career and life.

As you secured rank of 15811 is very good .and also your homestate is maharashtra is very good to hear

But according to data analysis of the previous years with your rank you are not able get electrical in VNIT.because the competition very high in VNIT

With your Rank you get a seat in Mining Engineering and also Material Engineering in the VNIT campus with your rank

You have a very good a score in JEE (Paper 2).

But I am afraid that the minimum eligibility criteria for getting admission in VNIT Ngp is to score 75% or above in HSC .

To be clear the criteria is either 75% or within the top 20 percentile of the respective board .

For you particular boards the criteria is well above your score. Thus you will not be able to get admission in you desired college.

First of all, you need to be in the top 20 percentile of your state board because you have not secured the mandatory 65% overall for 12th boards for sc, st and obc candidates.

If you are, then also you will not be able to get NIT, Nagpur because you need to secure a rank of below 10k to stand a chance.
