      GCECT Kolkata Admission 2026: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Cutoff & Application Form

      GCECT Kolkata Admission Process

      Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology Kolkata admissions are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Admissions at Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology are offered for B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D courses. The Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology B.Tech admission is based on WBJEE scores and lateral entry B.Tech admissions are based on Joint Entry Lateral Entry Test (JELET).

      • Admissions at GCECT are offered on the basis of entrance exam.
      • GCECT entrance exam accepted are WBJEE/WBUT PGET/ GATE/Written test conducted by the MAKAUT
      • GATE 2026 exam is scheduled to be held from February 07 to 08, 2026.
      • The admission process at GCECT involves submitting the application form, required documents, and payment of fees.
      • The B.Tech admission criteria at GCECT require candidates to have completed Class XII and to qualify in the relevant entrance examination.
      • The WBJEE 2026 entrance exam will be conducted on May 24, 2026. 

      The M.Tech admission at GCECT Kolkata is done based on candidates’ scores in the West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Test (WBUT PGET). Aspirants who are GATE qualified and want to be admitted to the M.Tech programmes also need to appear in WB PGET and they will get weightage for their GATE score. Following this, a merit list is prepared by the GCECT admission committee and based on the merit list, candidates have to attend the WBUT PGET counselling. For GCECT Kolkata Ph.D admissions , the candidates are required to appear for a written test conducted by the MAKAUT. Later, candidates who passed the written test should appear for an interview. Final admission is confirmed after verification of documents and the GCECT admission fee payment.

      How can I Get GCECT Admission?

      To gain admission to GCECT, candidates must pass the relevant entrance examinations, WBJEE for B.Tech, WBUT PGET or GATE for M.Tech, and a written test conducted by MAKAUT for PhD programmes. Admission is granted based on merit and performance in these examinations. 

      How to Apply for GCECT admissions 2026?

      Candidates need to follow the below mentioned Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology application process before taking GCECT admissions.

      Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology Registration Process

      • Candidates have to visit the website of GCECT Kolkata. 
      • They can collect the GCECT admission form from the college and fill out with the necessary details.
      • After filling the application form attach all the required documents. 
      • Finally, the candidates should submit the application form by paying the GCECT admission fee in the college’s accounts office.

      GCECT B.Tech Admissions 2026

      GCECT admissions are offered to six undergraduate programmes. The course duration of the GCECT Kolkata B.Tech programme is 4 years and the course duration of the B.Tech Lateral Entry is 3 years.

      GCECT Kolkata B.Tech Admission Procedure

      • First, candidates have to apply and appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) for GCECT admissions.
      • After the declaration of the WEBJEE result, the cutoff for the B.Tech programme is released.
      • GCECT admission is done on the basis of candidates’ performance in WBJEE.
      • For GCECT admission to the B.Tech lateral entry, candidates have to qualify West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test (JELET).
      • Candidates meeting the cut off requirement have to register for WBJEE counselling. 
      • Further, the candidates have to participate in the WBJEE counselling process for choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment.
      • Final admission is confirmed after verification of documents and payment of GCECT Kolkata fees for the B.Tech specified during the admission process. 

      GCECT Kolkata M.Tech Admissions 2026

      GCECT admissions are offered to 3 postgraduate programmes. The PG courses offered by the college are M.Tech Ceramic Technology, M.Tech CSE AI and ML and M.Tech Information Technology. The course duration of the GCECT Kolkata M.Tech programme is 2 years.

      Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology M.Tech Admission Procedure

      • Candidates have to apply and appear for the West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Test (WBUT PGET) for GCECT admission.
      • GATE qualified candidates also need to appear in WBUT PGET but they will get weightage for their GATE score.
      • Based on the marks secured in WBUT PGET and GATE scores, a merit list is prepared.
      • Further, based on the merit list candidates have to participate in the WBUT PGET counselling. 
      • During WBUT PGET counselling, candidates have to choose his/her preference of course and select Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata as their preferred college. 
      • Final GCECT admission is offered after verification of documents and course fee payment.

      GCECT Ph.D Admissions 2026

      GCECT admissions are offered to two doctoral programmes. GCECT Kolkata courses at the doctoral level include Ph.D Ceramic Technology and Ph.D Information Technology. The course duration of the GCECT Kolkata Ph.D programme is 6 years.

      Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology Ph.D Admission Procedure

      • For GCECT admission, candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria.
      • Eligible candidates must fill in the application form with all the necessary information for GCECT admission from the official website of MAKAUT Kolkata.
      • Candidates have to appear for a written test conducted by the MAKAUT.
      • Further, candidates who qualified the written test should appear for an interview.
      • The final selection of candidates is made based on their performance in a written test and interview.
      • Later, candidates should get their documents verified and pay the GCECT admission fees.

      I hope you are doing well.

      Among the 3 mentioned universities GCETTS do not have that good placement opportunities in comparing to the other two.

      GCELT gets good placement opportunities as 80% students get the placement opportunities with highest salary of 7 lakhs PA and also 90% of students
