Government Polytechnic College, Tiruchirappalli Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College library has an adequate collection of 24035 regular books, 681 books through World Bank aid, 753 H.S.S., 935 SC/ST Book Bank, and 257 SICVET housed in a big library. 

An open access system (ie, a borrower is permitted to have access to the stock room) is followed. Strict silence should be observed in the library.

Books may be borrowed by students by producing the library tickets supplied to them. Only one book will be issued against each ticket. Two tickets are issued to each student.

When a book is borrowed, it must immediately be examined carefully and damage, if any, noted should be brought to the notice of the Librarian at once. If the borrower fails to do so, he is liable to be held responsible for the damage.

Books can be retained for a maximum of 14 days. A fine of 50 Paise per working day will be levied in respect of books returned late up to a maximum of 28 days.

If the books are not returned even after 28 days of default, it will be presumed that the student has lost the book, and accordingly, double/triple the cost of the book will be recovered without giving any notice.

If any book is reported to be lost, the borrower should replace the lost one with a new book of the latest edition. If he is not able to make a replacement, then double the original cost of the lost book in the case of books purchased within 8 years before the loss, or thrice the original cost of the book if the book was purchased earlier, will be recovered from the borrower.

Books borrowed from the library are not transferable.

Books will not be issued during the vacation. All the students are required to return the books before they proceed on vacation. Final semester students will be issued a no-dues certificate only after they return the books and surrender the library tickets on the eve of the commencement of theory examinations.

The College has a department-based laboratory facility for the students.

The College has an excellent IT Infrastructure for the students.

The College has Principal is the Warden of the Hostel. She is assisted by Deputy Wardens and Residential Tutors. Thiru S. Murugesan and Thiru. C. Ramesh is the Deputy Warden (Accounts) and Deputy Warden (Administration) respectively. Tmt. Jayarani, Lecturer in Civil Engineering, is the Residential Tutor for the men's hostel. The Warden is vested with full powers in the administration and general discipline of the hostel. From the academic year 1994-95, a separate hostel for women students has been functioning on the campus.
