Sarang Institute of Polytechnic, Tumkur Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has an excellent library with good infrastructure and seating capacity of about 450 members. The college has a rich collection of books that are easily accessible to each aspirant. It has all the Text and Reference Books required by the students. The library is centrally computerized and Bar-coding system is applied to each issue and return. The students are allowed to borrow Three Books at the time and the reference section is kept open throughout the day for the benefit of the students. A separate arrangement for their study has been made in the library. There is a reading room facility for both staff and students. Apart from Text Books, Encyclopedias, Reference Books, and General Books of education are also kept in the Library. In addition, the Institution subscribes to a number of Technical Magazines. Library supported with a Multimedia Center for students to access the Internet. Five national dailies are also available.

The institution runs its own buses to and fro of Tumakuru city for its students and staff. These buses cover the width and breadth of the city, extending the facility meaningfully, saving the precious time of the commuters. The College is also well connected with Local Transportation from Kunigal and Tumakuru.

The learning and teaching facilities in the College are excellent. Well-equipped classrooms, workshops, computer labs, libraries, and learning centers ensure that our students study in a pleasant environment with up to date equipment and software. All the classrooms are designed and built to create an ambiance conducive to attentive learning. The spacious, well-ventilated and fully furnished classrooms are equipped with all necessary electronic gadgets like OHP / slide projectors, LCD and PA system to make them fully laden electronic classrooms.

The college has excellent on-campus parking with entrances to the general student and visitor car parks on the right and left of the main access road. Drivers are requested to follow the directional signs and observe all parking restrictions, designated and restricted parking areas and marked parking bays for disabled drivers. Permit parking regulations must be observed. Please observe the 10 mph speed limit and give way to pedestrians.

The college has Doctor Facility in the Institution. However, the nearest hospital that can treat emergencies is in Gulur Govt. Health Centre – 0.5 km (less than 5 mins). There are regular Sophisticated Medical Centres in Tumakuru City – 5 km (less than 10 mins). Several members of staff are trained in First Aid and there are two First Aid rooms – on the lower ground and first floors. If you are involved in an accident or incident, please report this to the General Office staff who will arrange for a First Aider to be contacted.

The college Well equipped Laboratories and Workshop facilities are available department wise in the Institution for training the students of their respective branches. Practicals are conducted for workshop technology and manufacturing process modules. The students develop essential manufacturing, fitting, welding skills which are critical to engineering training and development. These exposures give our students a competitive edge with regard to hands-on training. Students are introduced in the first year of study to manual metalwork processes like filing, drilling, tapping, fitting, the use of measuring devices, and layouts. The workshop is stocked with workbenches equipped with vices, drill press, cutters and grinders for holding and works. Students are issued basic tools and work in a group or individually to complete projects.

The Multimedia Lab setup with the Latest Computers to Meet Requirement of students project need. The student can use this lab for preparing documentation work for their project work.
