The Kongu Polytechnic College, Salem Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has Separate Hostel facilities available for Boys. The Hostel provides accommodation for all needy students. The rooms are furnished with a Table, Chair, Cot, and Fan. The Boy's Hostel accommodates 300 students. The Hostel Mess is run by the College Management itself. The mess charges will be on a sharing basis. Every effort is made to keep the bill at an affordable level, with the cooperation of students in avoiding wastage, use of water, etc. The stress is on providing hygienically prepared food. The Centralized Kitchen uses steam and gas for cooking. The Kitchen is equipped with modern cooking equipment and gadgets for the preparation of doughs, chutneys, cutting of vegetables, etc. In case of an emergency, the students will be taken to nearby hospitals such as Dharan Hospital, Gokulam Hospital, etc.

The college has a Doctor on call when required for students and staff.

The college has a special fitness center available on campus.

The college has a full-fledged library with books, journals, CDs, and Magazines to help the students acquire additional knowledge to improve their technical skills and general knowledge to learn more in their fields of interest. The College library is presently having 11885 volumes and 1486 titles. The total numbers of journals are 30 which includes 15 national and 15 international journals respectively. 1453 volumes have been added during the academic year 2010-2011.

The  College has a separate Physical Director who is well-experienced in the field of physical education. The following play fields and indoor facilities are available to take care of the physical needs of our students. Outdoor Games: Jogging track. Foot Ballfield. Cricket Ground. Basketball court. Volleyball court. Shuttle, Badminton. Tennikoit court. Hockey ground. Kho - Kho. Kabbadi. Open-air Gymnasium for boys. indoor Games:-Carrom Board, Chess.

The college has Advanced-level Education requires Advanced Laboratory facilities and hence the Department of Computer Engineering has features that include Servers like Windows 2003, Red Hat Linux, and Novel Netware Software that consists of MS-DOS, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, J2EE, Oracle 8i, Visual Studio 2008, Turbo C++, Blender, and Hardware System that is made up of Pentium IV processor, 160 GB Hard disk, 1GB MB RAM, 512 KB Cache Memory, 2.4 GHz Speed, 3 1/2 Floppy Drive, DVD Drive, LCD Colour Monitor, Multimedia Key Board, and Optical Mouse.

The College has a spacious and airy Canteen. It provides a variety of wholesome, tasty snacks and food at a reasonable price. The Canteen also provides packaged snack items, bakery products, and soft drinks to the taste and requirements of not only the students but also the staff members.

The College has its fleet of transport to pick up students from Salem, Omalur, Ammapet, Rasipuram, etc., and covers almost every important location situated within a radial distance of 30 KM. The College is presently using 6 buses.

The college Alumni are invited once a year for a get-together function. They will have discussions about their career and personal life. There will be a meeting with the Management, Principal, and faculties which will be a feast for the alumni. They enjoy meeting with their old friends and faculties. Alumni have informed all the important functions in the college and separate invitations will be sent to them to attend the functions. They are treated as college guests after they complete the courses.

The college provides excellent learning and good lab facilities for sound practical knowledge. The laboratory space has been doubled and has been upgraded with the latest types of equipment. The lab consists of PIC microcontrollers, analog device processors, and the latest simulation tools such as MATLAB for students' usage.

The college has a Classroom facility that enables modern teaching with LCD and OHP Projectors.

The college has an N.S.S. Unit. It was started in the year 2008. It functions well with the help of the Programme Officers. Most of the students take part in the N.S.S. activities. The following activities usually take place in N.S.S. Tree plantation, Small savings scheme, Campus cleaning, Crowd regulation during festival season, Temple cleaning, Conducting adult education classes, Traffic regulations, Improvement of drainage systems, Digging of soak pits, Distribution of cloth to poor, Conducting surveys, Environmental sanitation, Assistance to handicapped, Celebration of important days, Cultural and recreation activities, Food for peace, Hospital service, Education service, Awareness creation, Wasteland development, Formation of mini forest, and Watershed management.

The college has a Training and Placement Cell, assisting students in getting placed. In the year 2022-2023, all together 103 students placed in 16 different companies.
