Amity University | M.Tech Admissions 2025
ApplyRanked amongst top 3% universities globally (QS Rankings).
Hello!
It totally depends upon your interest. If you are too determined that you want to persue your career in CSE, then i would suggest go for IIT jodhpur. However, if you are not sure about it, then i would suggest go for IIT BHU as its a better one. Moreover, mechanical is a really good branch.
Hello sahil.
I would like to tell you that.
Engineering physics - Bachelor of technology (B. Tech) (4 years program) is offered by the :
- IIT Hyderabad - 20 seats
- IIT Guhawati - 50 seats
Engineering physics - Bachelor of technology and Masters of technology dual degree ( B. Tech + M. Tech) ( 5 years program) is offered by :
-IIT BHU (Varanasi) - 20 seats.
Admission to these programs is made through the two tier examination called Joint entrance examination ( JEE ).
So I would like to prefer you to go for IIT BHU, as it offers dual degree in EP.
Hope this will help you!!
Good luck.
Hello,
It's delightful to know that you are eligible for both the esteemed colleges for a branch in-demand like ECE. IIIT Hyderabad is one of the best colleges of India for circuit related branches. The sheer location of IIIT Hyderabad makes it a better college for job prospects. The updated curriculum of IIIT Hyderabad makes it a better option for ECE branch than IIT BHU or IIT Guwahati Chemical. As per the Information, only 60% of eligible students in IIT Guwahati got placed and the average package was around 14 lac. While IIIT H offered 100% placements. So if you are studying engineering for Jobs you should be choosing IIIT H. Traditional IIT tag is very helpful in your early career and if you are dedicated enough you can slide branches in IIT-G. Thus, it's really your choice.
The reason why I am not even discussing IIT-BHU is that until you have a lot of interest in Mechanical, it stands a bit below IIT Guwahati or IIIT Hyderabad.
In my opinion, you should leave IIIT Hyderabad only for OLD 5 IITs(B, D, M, K, KGP).
Hello Lrp,
According to what I believe, IITs are superior than NITs being different in the following ways:
Global Recognition of Brand IITs: IITs have always featured in the global chart of engineering colleges from India whereas NITs do not appear in the same list.
Better Student Quality in IITs: Higher cut-off marks during selection process at IITs draw better quality of students in IITs rather than NITs. Superior student intake results into excellent placement for IITians.
Better Faculty in IITs : IITs have one of the best engineering faculty in India. However IITs established recently, are undergoing a terrible shortage of faculty. IIT-Hyderabad has a requirement of 85 faculty members while it currently has 74 faculty members.
IIT-Bhubaneswar has total 50 faculty members against its requirement of 62 members. Owing to this serious concern, most IITs have already started aggressive communication campaigns across the country to reach out to post docs and graduate students of top universities worldwide. NITs have also been facing shortage of quality faculty for a while now.
Stronger Academic Collaboration in IITs : IITs undertake greater number of projects with esteemed institutions like ISRO, DRDO, BARC etc. NITs research work is not at the same magnitude of IITs.
Better Infrastructure at IITs: IITs have better Infrastructure with spacious campus, good research labs etc. The popularity of IITs among Engineering aspirants is highly driven by its educational and college environment. The ambience of IITs campus is both inspiring and vibrating with perfectly planned and aligned layout for the whole campus, libraries, and hostels.
NITs are definitely second to IITs in terms of infrastructure. They also have great computing facilities.
Better Placements at IITs: Top Notch companies prefer IITians over NITians and also salaries offered are well differentiated. Going through last 5 years placement records of both, the average pay package offered to any IITian (B.Tech) is anywhere between Rs 43,750 and 48,000 monthly compared with average pay package offered to any student from NIT in (B.Tech) which is anywhere between Rs 40,000 and 42,000 monthly. However, there is a lot of variance among the salary packages depending on ability of candidates and academic performances.
Conclusion:
The Indian Institutes of Technology remain a top brand, but their standing as centres of excellence can no longer be stated as convincingly with inclusion of new IITs. The brand has also taken a hit with the increase in the number of IITs. There is a definite distinction between the “new” and “old” IITs.
The demographic dividend and our target of achieving 30% enrolment in higher education till 2020 implies that we should not have just some IITs in order to cash in on IIT brand name. The lack of domestic competition has resulted in depreciation in the output of the IITs both in terms of research output and overall grooming of the students. The core industry demands have remained low which has resulted in engineering students from IIT & NIT ending up as investment bankers and management consultants. The big packages that IITians bag every year is just one side of the story.
The other side of the story is the IITs enjoy media publicity images for the proliferation of entrepreneurs out of IITs. Overall, brand IIT, though still on a high pedestal, is on the way downhill. We need to make NITs more strong in terns of faculty, infrastructure and placement so that NITs give IITs a run for the much applauded IIT BRAND.

Hello Ramesh!
According to your rank you will get IIT Dhanbad,IIT BHU in mining engineering department .Both the colleges are good in terms of academic, average package, infrastructure. So you can take any of these two colleges.
You can change your branch after first year if you have good cpi in first two semester (CPI: Cumulative Performance Index)
Hello Pawan,
Yes, you can get Civil Branch with your rank in JEE - Advanced. The IITs you can get are IIT - Tripati, IIT - Ropar, IIT - Patna, IIT - Mandi, etc. You can use your state quota in IIT - Jodhpur but IIT - Jodhpur does not offer B. Tech in Civil Branch.

All The Best.
Hey vishal!
I see that you have not mentioned the name of exam .So , i consider the exam to be JEE ADVANCED and your 1114 rank to be JEE ADVANVED ST category rank.
So , if we see the previous year cutoff trends for JEE ADVANCED ranks for ST category , then the cutoffs usually open with a rank of around 700 and until the last round of counselling , they close at a rank of around 900 for metallurgical engineering. And cutoffs usually fluctuate every year , so there is nothing that can be predicted with full chance of occuring. All we can say is just on the basis of previous year cutoffs. And following that , we can say that you have no chances of getting a seat in metallurgical engineering at IIT BHU because your rank is more than 900.
You can also check the previous year JEE ADVANCED cutoffs for IIT BHU for ST category by following the given link :

Well , this is not a thing to get disheartened because there are many other good colleges where you can get a seat in metallurgical engineering like NIT , WARANGAL , MNIT JAIPUR etc.
To predict your chances in other colleges on the basis of your JEE ADVANCED rank , use JEE ADVANCED college predictor tool;

Hope it helps!
It is very tough rank to decide but it is all the matter of luck sometimes. It happens when students have to freeze, float or slide option.Candidates who understand these options correctly, who may not have enough marks for the particular college bugt may end up in a college better than they deserve. It all happens at the time of counselling. So be familiar withh these option.
Thanks for connecting.Team Careers360.
Dear candidate........,
Well, basing upon your rank in JEE ADVANCED, you have the chance for getting admission into IIT BHU for dual degree ME. But since you're a general candidate, its better to apply for colleges in your own home state so that the chances of getting admission are high. But still you can give it a try at the time of counseling.
Hope this helps you out........
Best of luck:)
The infra is I would say average only not too good and not too bad …it need to work on its infra they really need to work on that otherwise people would stop taking IIT BHU …most of the nits have better infra
Hostels: Separate hostels for boys and girls with amenities like laundry, dining halls, and medical centers Labs: Modernized laboratories for various subjects including chemistry, physics, and computer science Library: A well-equipped library with over 88,000 books, terminals for accessing databases, and more Sports facilities: A sports complex with a swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor squash courts, and more Auditorium: A large auditorium Canteen: A cafeteria Gym: Separate gyms for boys and girls
The infrastructure of this IIT needs to be improved as far as other IITS are concerned. We will find decent hostels situated on campus. It also has its own mess, which provides decent food. Classrooms are also well-equipped with modern facilities. Here, the library has very limited capacity so it needs to be expanded.
