Hi

hope you doing well

It will depend more on your category rank, your chances of getting into NIT Durgapur or other NITs/IIITs with a JEE Mains percentile of 78, it will depend on the specific cutoffs for those institutions in the current admission cycle.

Typically, NITs have varying cutoffs for different branches and categories. For SC candidates, the cutoffs tend to be lower than for the general category, but they can still vary significantly.

As of the most recent admission cycles, the closing ranks for various branches for the SC category were generally around:

  • Computer Science and Engineering: Around 5000-6000
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering: Around 7000-8000
  • Mechanical Engineering: Around 9000-11000
  • Civil Engineering: Around 12000-14000

you may also see on your side what cutoff are for this year

Hi

hope you doing well

Your chances of getting admission into IIIT Bhagalpur in either the CSE or ECE branch with a JEE Main rank of 53,457 and OBC-NCL category, are moderate.

IIIT Bhagalpur is a relatively newer IIIT, so the cutoffs are generally lower compared to older IIITs, but CSE and ECE tend to have higher competition.

Being from Bihar, you have an advantage in the home state quota, which can lower the cutoff for you.

Your category also provides some relaxation in the cutoffs compared to the general category.

CSE : This is the most competitive branch. You might be on the borderline depending on how the cutoffs trend this year, but securing CSE could be tough.

ECE : You might have a better chance for ECE as its cutoffs are usually a bit lower than CSE.

I recommend participating in the JoSAA counseling process and keeping an eye on the opening and closing ranks of previous years for IIIT Bhagalpur

Hi

hope you doing well

In Jee mains, while having 80 percentile and belonging to the OBC-NCL category your CRL rank is likely to be around 200,000-250,000 (approximately), and your OBC-NCL rank might be in the range of 50,000-60,000.

In previous years, the cutoffs for CSE in IIIT Raipur for OBC-NCL under the Home State quota have been around 25,000-35,000 OBC ranks, which suggests that with an OBC-NCL rank of 50,000-60,000, it might be difficult to secure CSE.

You may have a chance for other branches or if there is a significant drop in cutoffs during the later rounds of counseling. Keep an eye on the JoSAA counseling rounds for any changes or open spots

Hi

hope you are doing well

I want to tell you that IIIT Bangalore typically has high cutoffs, especially for CSE, as it is one of the more sought-after IIITs so your chances of getting admission to IIIT Bangalore may be limited.

for CSE, cutoff are around of like -JEE Main rank 6,000-7,000.

ECE's cutoff is slightly higher, but still, it usually requires a rank around 10,000-12,000.

Hi

hope you are doing well

It might be difficult for TOP NIT's and IIIT's with the general rank of 96,000 and an OBC rank of 30,000 in JEE Mains 2024 . However, there are still some good possibilities in less competitive branches or newer campuses. Here are some suggestions:

NITs:

  1. NIT Meghalaya
  2. NIT Mizoram
  3. NIT Sikkim
  4. NIT Arunachal Pradesh
  5. NIT Manipur
  6. NIT Nagaland
  7. NIT Agartala

You might be able to secure branches like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering at these NITs.

some IIIT's you may get are:

  • IIIT Kottayam
  • IIIT Bhagalpur
  • IIIT Bhopal
  • IIIT Una
  • IIIT Dharwad
  • IIIT Lucknow (for non-CSE branches)
  • IIIT Pune (non-core branches)

Many state government engineering colleges accept JEE Mains scores and might offer a good branch at your rank.

You can also explore institutes like BIT Mesra (off-campus), IIEST Shibpur, or other GFTIs for branches that may not be as competitive.

Hello student,

With a rank of 51,025 and a 96.71 percentile in JEE Mains, you have a good chance of securing admission into Computer Science Engineering (CSE) , especially given your female and Haryana domicile status. Here are some options for NITs and IIITs:

NITs:

  1. NIT Jalandhar (NIT Punjab) : You might get CSE in the newer or less sought-after NITs.

  2. NIT Agartala : Look for CSE branches in newer NITs where the cutoffs may be lower.

  3. NIT Puducherry : Another option with potentially lower cutoffs.

    IIITs:

  4. IIIT Kalyani : A newer IIIT with potentially accessible cutoffs.
  5. IIIT Bhagalpur : Check for CSE availability in newer IIITs.
  6. IIIT Una : May offer CSE or related branches with slightly higher cutoffs.

    Tips:
  • Counseling Participation: Actively participate in the JoSAA counseling process, and be flexible with your choices of NITs and IIITs.

  • Cutoff Trends: Regularly check the cutoffs for each institute during the counseling rounds to make informed decisions.

With your rank and category advantages, you should have a reasonable chance of getting into CSE at some of these institutes.

Hello there,

With a CRL rank of 500,000 and an ST category rank of 10,182 in JoSAA counseling, you have better chances of getting a seat through your ST category rank .

Possible Institutes:

  1. GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes):

    • Some of the newer or lesser-known GFTIs may offer seats in branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical , or Metallurgical Engineering .

    • Institutes like Assam University, Tezpur University, or Mizoram University may have higher cutoffs, giving you a better chance to get in.

  2. IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology):

    • Admission to newer or lesser-demand IIITs (such as IIIT Kottayam, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Una ) might be possible, but branches may be in IT or Electronics-related fields .

      Important Considerations:
  • ST Reservation: Your ST rank will significantly boost your chances, especially in newer GFTIs and IIITs .

  • Multiple Rounds: Stay active in all JoSAA counseling rounds as cutoff ranks fluctuate, and you may get better opportunities in later rounds.

You can likely get admission to less competitive branches at newer GFTIs or IIITs . Keep an eye on the cutoffs during counseling.

Hello there,

With 83.56 percentile in JEE Mains, your rank may be around 150,000 . As an OBC-NCL candidate from Maharashtra , your chances of getting a seat in NITs/IIITs through JoSAA counseling will primarily depend on the branch and the specific institute.

Best Strategy for NIT/IIIT Admission:

  1. Lower Branches in NITs:

    • You can target NITs with less competitive branches such as:

      • Civil Engineering
      • Metallurgical Engineering
      • Production Engineering
      • Biotechnology
      • Mining Engineering

  2. Some NITs with higher cutoffs for popular branches like CSE or ECE may still offer these less competitive branches to higher-ranked students.

  3. Newer or Less Popular NITs:

    • Newer NITs like NIT Sikkim, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Nagaland, NIT Mizoram may have higher cutoffs, increasing your chances of admission.

    • NIT Goa and NIT Srinagar may also have more relaxed cutoffs in lower-demand branches.

  4. IIITs (Newer/Lower Demand):

    • New IIITs (like IIIT Ranchi, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Kalyani) may offer seats in branches like Electronics, Mechanical, or Information Technology .

  5. Flexible Branches:

    • Be open to core branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical , or Chemical Engineering in less competitive NITs/IIITs. Once in, you can try for a branch upgrade based on performance in the first year.

You may have a good chance of securing a seat in lower-demand branches at newer NITs or IIITs . Fill your choices broadly, targeting branches like Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgical , or Biotechnology across newer institutes. Ensure to participate in multiple counseling rounds for the best outcome.
