Hi Bipasha!
Greetings!
Go for NIT Durgapur.
Reason 1.
Unlike Calcutta University you will be assured of a good placement at the end of 4 yrs as the first batch of 4 yr Btech hast graduated from CU so…nothing can be said about placements
Reason 2
.Being an NIT..Its overall popularity in the field of Technology is much better than Calcutta University which is mainly a multidisciplinary university primarily known for courses like pure science,Law,arts, etc and. not primarily focused on a certain course like engineering…and the 4 yr Btech curriculum is fairly new.
Reason 3.
Exposure as a student of an NIT is moreEnvironment and marking scheme will be better at NIT Durgapur as here at CU…getting good marks is tough and the environment lacks enthusiasm and energy…If you are interested in Chemical then you can think otherwise…otherthan than that…..Go for NIT Durgapur…as here at CU the course is new and nothing is guaranteed.
Reason 4 .
You can aslo slide your stream from mechanical later after 1st yr at NIT DGP. So chances are you could end up getting ECE or CSE there too.
Please upvote if this was helpful to you.
Thank you and good luck.
Frankly speaking if we follow the last few years trend, then the answer is a clear no. And since the cutoffs will increase thisyear since there has been an increase in demand for IIESTs and NITs I don’t think it will be possible for you to take admission in either of these good colleges.
Hello,
If you are a home state student, then you can get nit durgapur(ee,mech, ece, met, civ, chem). But there are no chances if you are a outer state student. But with this rank you will easily get nits like nit sikkim, manipur, mizoram and other lower ranked nits.

Hey!There
If you are looking for CSE stream then you should go with NIT DURGAPUR.If you have little bit interest in EEE then you can stay with NIT WARANGAL as placement and exposure of WARANGAL is quite good. After one year, branch matter not tag.So go with your interest.
Ask if you have any other queries.
GOOD LUCK!
The campus boasts modern infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories, smart classrooms, and a comprehensive library stocked with the latest resources. High-speed Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the campus, facilitating seamless online learning. Hostel facilities are commendable, offering clean rooms and hygienic food. Sports complexes and recreational areas are well-maintained, promoting a balanced student life.
NIT Durgapur has some very old buildings, but the newly formed Academic block, utkarsh bhawan is very good infrastructures. Library also good. Senior hostels are little bit less maintained, but hostels for 1st year and 2nd years are good.
Not par with the NIT standard. Sports could be better, lots of unutilized area in campus. Academics is good, most professors are interactive. Good club culture, allows student to learn outside of academics.
