See Home state quota is the reserved quota for Home state candidates in that institutions. In NITs there is 50% of total seats are reserved under Home state quota, which means that only Karnataka domicile candidates are eligible for that seat.

So during counselling Karnataka domicile candidates will be preferred over other state candidates for those 50% seats.

Hey aspirant, NIT surathkal is one of the best college among NIT. College provide good academics . When it comes to placement, government sectors are more than privet sectors. so you need to be one among the top in class with a good technical knowledge in subject to get campus placement for the core subjects. Usually placement for core subject is very less.  Many people get placement for other sectors like IT. You can apply off campus for government sectors. You have also an option to took phd and to do research. Amazone, adobe, mynthra, flipcart, hotstar ,wiipro are some of the companies come for placement.

But if your category is listed under central reservation list available on the official website of NCBC then you can choose your category accordingly. Otherwise your category would be considered as general/Unreserved for admission to NITs.

Great campus life with good placement and private beach

College Infrastructure

There are enough buildings for classrooms. Wifi is available through out campus through captive portal login. Two libraries with air-conditioners are available. There are 3 grounds Two sports complexes which are too good. 12 boys hostels and 5 girls' hostel are available. Mess food is decent. We get boy veg and non-veg mess. 3 night canteens are available which serve midnights. There is a food court too. We also get a private beach. Campus has a well connection of road (NH66) which runs between the campus splitting it in two. There are guest houses available. Overall very good infrastructure.

NITK Surathkal boasts an excellent campus located by the beach, providing a unique and scenic learning environment. The institute has modern classrooms, well-maintained hostels, and state-of-the-art labs for various departments. The Central Library is vast and equipped with digital resources. Wi-Fi is available across the campus, and there are several cafeterias and canteens offering good food. Sports facilities, including a gym, stadium, and courts, are impressive and regularly used by students. The greenery and cleanliness across the campus make it even more attractive and conducive to student life.
