The college is one of the oldest colleges in Tamil Nadu. Provides great infrastructure at a very less fees. One can enjoy stress free life here. But, The college is losing it's old name. Poor faculty for first years. Hostel life will be superb but hostel infrastructure sucks. Placement opportunities are getting reduced year by year. Choice Based Credit System is followed here. One of the TEQIP funded colleges. But, the ignorance of some staffs lead to the loss of fame of such a reputed college. No more a top college.

One of the oldest college in Tamilnadu, Good college for mechanical engineering, as most of the staffs are doctorate. Has very good equipment, better labs. Hope the college is doing good. Plus, one of the colleges with very low fees. Have heard that Civil engineering department is also doing good.

Learning clubbed with exposure

A place where you can be sure that you'll be start feeling the engineering in you at the end of the course... The college started by the philanthropist Dr.R.M. Alagappa Chettiar in 1956 with the state of art infrastructure and the exposure that you will not see in many of the colleges even today. Learning are not forced and are embedded by virtue.. Pros : # Government autonomous engineering college # ranked consistently among top 15 colleges in Tamilnadu # Experienced faculty members # 60 years old college with such a great Alumni base # Atmosphere and ambiance of college boosts education Cons # Industrial exposure - bridging the gap between corporate and campus has been a problem now a days # Infrastructure development lagging # Exposure to global events # sarcastic nature of students and faculty members

What about the placement, can I expect good placement in this college

Shivam bhardwaj Student Expert 27th Jun, 2019

Hello Praveen,

The placements are not much. Yearly 40 to 70 students only got placed in the companies. Only, the minimum number of students got selected in the core companies. The placement cell requires more in-charges in the college. There is a lack of internship facility in the college.

Last choice is yours.

Good luck

I have got btech degree with 5.97 Cgpa in sastra University is it possible to study me courses in this University

Souradeep Bhowmick Student Expert 8th Jun, 2019

Hello Madhu,

Here is a pdf link from Sastra university itself. I think there is possibility to get admission in Sastra. However to increase your chances of admission you should score well in GATE as candidates who have got good GATE score are preferred more than others and in your case it will be highly beneficial since your CGPA is a bit on the low side. However it is no issue. For more information please visit this link: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/sastra-mtech-admission

Hope this answer helps!
