Yes AIT do accepts jee main score for giving admissions in BTech courses. As you didn't mentioned any specific category I am assuming his category as general. This percentile is more than enough to get admission in the college. He can get top core branches like CSE, ECE, EEE etc.

In 2016, 

Closing Rank (for any branch)- 1,39,241

In 2017,

Closing Rank (for any branch)- 1,03,072
