Usually students take NIRF ranking and the placements into consideration, while applying for counselling. Taking those factors into consideration, NMIT would be a better pick.

The percentile may not fetch you a seat in Army Institute of Technology, Pune as you may miss marginally. The last year cut off indicates that 86 to 90 percentile would help to find a seat in a round. But don't lose hope there can be a seat

Yes AIT do accepts jee main score for giving admissions in BTech courses. As you didn't mentioned any specific category I am assuming his category as general. This percentile is more than enough to get admission in the college. He can get top core branches like CSE, ECE, EEE etc.
