The Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth was set up back in 2003 in Pune. Known as the DPU, the university started with only a single institute, but has now grown to be a very big brand all over Maharashtra. The group has become synonymous with educational excellence, all over western India. The university has been named after Dr. D.Y. Patil who has been a noted educationist and social reformer, all his career. A number of educational institutions, research organizations and sports academies have been named after him, due to his work in getting them started. The DPU now runs academic institutions for the academic areas of- Engineering, Law, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Education, Nursing, Dental, Bio Technology, Management and even one for Ayurveda.
The Pune- based Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth has been approved by the UGC (University Grants Commission) as a Deemed University. It has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in it. A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results. Several of the technical courses here have also been ratified by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The DPU is an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certified institution. The entire campus is spread over forty- three acres of land.
The Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology (DYPIET) is a constituent unit of the Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth. The former was founded in 1998, before the university got established. Then, it was a girls’- only college known as the Dr. D.Y. Patil Women’s College of Engineering, affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University. The present name it acquired in the year 2003, once it became a co- educational institution. Additionally, it has also been accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). Courses are on offer here, right from the UG till doctoral levels. At the undergrad level, BE programmes are available in the engineering areas of- Civil, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Instrumentation and in Electronics & Telecommunication. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M.E. programmes are available for the areas of- Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and for Electronics & Telecommunication. In addition, one can also go for an MBA here at the DYPIET.
The entire academics at the DYPIET is run by a cohort of eight departments, each with expertise in its own area. Six of these seven departments are for the areas in which the B. E. degrees may be pursued in here. Another one is for the MBA programme. Yet another one is for the Applied Science Engineering. This takes care of all the fundamental sciences being physics, chemistry and mathematics. Doctoral programmes may also be pursued here at the DYPIET.
Research plays a very important role in the Pune- based Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology. That is why several research programmes are anchored by each of the separate departments. Some of the key areas worked upon now here include- “Bio inspired network for disaster management”, “sensor development in bio medical field”, “image processing in agricultural areas”, “latest advancement in machine learning, big data”, “wireless sensor network in coal mines”, “modelling and design of pavement”, “land use planning and modelling”, “fuzzy logic based process control”, “design of equipment for physically disabled people”, “learning scheme for cognitive networks”, “ergonomic equipment design in mechanical engineering” and some more.
The faculty members at the DYPIET have also participated in several research conferences and workshops, all over the country. Many have even presented papers at these places. Some of the faculty members have even seen their works getting published on research or academic peer- reviewed journals. Some of the top journals DYPIET faculty works got published on include- IJCER (International Journal of Computational Engineering Research), IJARCET (International Journal of Advances in Engineering and Technology), IJERA (International Journal of Engineering Research and Applications), IJCCE (International Journal of Electronics Communication and Computer Engineering), the Chemical Society of Ethiopia plus a few more.
Another area of much importance to the institute is entrepreneurship. This is why the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) has been an active forum here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute. Experienced trainers and entrepreneurs are invited to campus to deliver guest lectures and interact with those who have such business models. For those willing to pursue jobs, the campus placements have also gone healthy the last few seasons. Some of the key recruiters during this period in time have been the likes of- Tech Mahindra, Nvidia, Oracle, New Gen Software, DP, Cybage, Mphasis, Siemens, HSBC, Cadbury, San mar Group, PARI Robotics, Bridgestone, Syntel, Opus, Quick Heal, Fiserv Solutions, Voltas, Denso, TVS, India bulls, Bosch, Honeywell, TCS, Godrej Infotech, L&T Infotech, Saint- Gobain and many others.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
Based on the individual scores secured by colleges in cumulative score that they have received.
The colleges are ranked as per the cumulative score that they have received. The college that has got the maximum cumulative score will be ranked first while the college that has got least cumulative score will be ranked last.
Institutions that are promoted by the central/state or provincial Government or Government aided agencies.
Institutes that are promoted by private trusts/Socities/sector 8 companies that are not for profits.
Accreditation is a process by which the quality of all the programme is examined and certified normally by an external body of academics in a college. It validates and certifies the academic processes practised within an institute are robust and relevant.
