oldest marine engineering college inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru with the Transport Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1953, known for its technical education in the field of marine engineering, produced one of the finest marine engineers for the marine industry. very good campus placements opportunities. tough college life as a student are being trained under strict discipline and punctuality(like paramilitary training).

On my first day, I was a little bit scared because of a new environment and was afraid if I could adjust here that as the time passed I was able to become familiar with the environment and my faculty is very helpful too. they helped me a lot in academics should say they are best and experienced faculty and a great environment for a student to prosper and achieve higher goals...Seniors are also helping by nature here...loved to be here...

I would say only one word to describe my college days - "Awesome". It was inaugurated by our first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1950. The college follows paramilitary kind of culture which is quite necessary to face the challenging tasks associated with the future job. The college has a state of the art workshop with almost all the machinery that one will find on board which includes main engine, generator, scotch boiler, purifier and lathe. Most of the faculty is from marine industry only which helps you to connect more with them as they possess the required experience. The course is similar to mechanical engineering with more emphasis given on marine equipment knowledge. It is a well-known brand in the market and the best college in India to provide marine engineering course. The hostel life was the best part which I thoroughly enjoyed. We used to know not only our batch mates but also our senior and juniors with name and their place of residence. This was unique about our college which helped us to develop deeper bond among us. The reason for this can be attributed to the fact that we lived four years of our life together sharing each and every moments of joy and sorrow. When talk about the industry requirements, MERI stands ahead of all its peers and industry recognizes us the best to be hired. The culture followed in the college makes a person more disciplined and responsible. So, if you have the guts to face the challenges of the marine life, this must be the ideal college for you to join.

Quality Marine Engineers In India

The institute has been producing marine engineers for more than 60 years, established in 1949, the institute has a very strong alumni. The faculty members are very well qualified, experienced and well known in the industry. The training methodology is very conventional but effective resulting in producing quality marine engineers. The college has its pros and cons including mainly its infrastructural fallback. I enjoyed my 4 years of time here, the rules and regulation are bit stricter than regular engineering colleges, but eventually you get used to it. Campus placement here sure is better than pretty much any marine engineering institute in the country.

Marine college rocks

Posted on 08 Jul' 15 by Raushan ranjan
"My college is a quite old college ...as earlier named as DMET.SO IT'S infrastructure is old....but new academic and hostel buildings are beautiful. Our college gives 98% placements among those who have passed their all subjects.....placement is excellent in our college rather than other marine colleges. Canteen is also quite good....all nutrition foods are given to our cadets according to their physical fitness. Library is outstanding..........I can give 10 out of 10 for library....... As everybody knows that marine college is a paramilitary type of college...so physical training and sports are the main activities......everyone should have to participate in sports......TEMPEST IS our college fest...which the biggest college fest among all marine colleges."
