hello aspirant,
it is not possible to get direct admission in iit bombay for mtech admission. you need to crack graduate apptitude test in engineering exam (gate) and need to score the cutoff by iit bombay to get admission in the institution.
hope it helps.
hi shubham
Either
you are super Intelligent or super over confident.
Well to your
question I would say yes it is worth it.
Because not only for placements for interns also
number of companies
visiting campus for CS = number of CS students
And regarding
salary, you don't say ;)
CS from IIT Bombay is like a dream come true even for those who cracked JEE easily.Rather find first where you stand and then prepare for the college you can get admission to.Selection Process is not so fair in India. One small mistake on your part can lead you to take Civil that too may be not from IIT Bombay.
hope u like the answer
hi shubham
It is depend on you. How do you spend your life in IIT. I wiil give you an example of my friend who was in iitd. his department is chemical. But he was too good in other activities. He had great deep knowledge of other branches. Hence he got 40lac per annum. You can't expect the salary packages. If you do nothing in IIT then you will get 6 or less. You can't predict what would your salary package after studying from IIT.

Hi Shubham!
You have to come in top 300 rank for entering IIT Mumbai for various MSC courses like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Statistics, Biotechnology, Applied Geophysics, Applied Geoplogy, Environmental Science and Engineering etc. The last year exact seat matrix for IIT mumbai is as follows:-
All the best!
First of all I would like to congratulate you for your success in prestigious GATE exam.
After going through the present scenario, I can say that you had a fair chance of getting Interview call from different Public Sector Units (PSU's) and also from IIT Bombay for Master's.
Life at IIT Bombay : As far as academics is concerned during the first semester you will have more coursework (around 6 courses) compared to the subsequent semesters. There will be some compulsory courses you should do and some electives, but you can skip some courses and do them in the following semesters. So the people who haven't studied at IIT might feel some difficulties in handling the courseworks. But if you have good time management skills with no procrastination and the ability to switch over the things will help you to do your academics in a better way. The professors will expect you think about the subject lot rather than mugging up something and write it in the exams. As a M. Tech student you will be expected to give coursework presentations and seminars, talks, etc. The course is entirely controlled by the course instructor only. Ex: grades, weightages, syllabus etc.
During the second semester you will feel some comfort in academics because at the time you reach there, you would have learned how to handle the course works. At the end of the second semester you will be in a position to select your supervisor or guide for your M. Tech project which you will be doing in the whole next two semesters. You have freedom to choose your guide according to your area of interest and the professor you would like to work. It's allowed in IIT that you can do interdisciplinary projects with the collaboration with other department professors.
Hostel life at IITB is joyful except mess food sometimes. In the first year they will allot two persons per room. So you have to share your room with one of your friends due to more number of students and shortage of rooms. I would say if you don't stay inside the campus you will miss a lot of things (events) which will be happening frequently in the campus. In the hostels you will get most of the basic needs and facilities. Example: In each hostels there will be stationery shops, canteen, indoor games room, gym, laundry facility. In each room LAN connection will be there and also WiFi. Mess food will be good (not so bad). You will get both North Indian and South Indian dishes. The menu is framed like that. If you have any problems regarding mess you can report to the mess council. Once or twice a semester they will arrange gala dinner (grand dinner). There will be a separate hostel council; they will conduct a lot of events and competitions, cultural programs, workshops, etc.
In the view of extra curricular activities the one only IIT Bombay is the best place. Lots of organizations, clubs, events, student groups etc. The famous festivals are techfest, moodindigo, e-summit, etc. Other than these lot of student groups, to improve your technical knowledge in a particular things for example: team Shinya, Tata Centre, robotics club, tinkerer`s lab, STAB, under water veichle team, racing team, IITB satellite team etc. There are separate groups are there for PG cultural and technical activities. In sports, almost all type of sports are available inside the campus. You can join any sports and practice there will be separate coaches for every sport . Everyday there will be some events and you will not find time to attend those things.
Placements are pretty good in IIT Bombay. Every year around 350 companies are visiting IITB campus. This year onwards the PSU’s started to visit IITB after few years gap. The M. Tech Placements will vary depending on the department and the program which you have taken. But the overall the placements are good.
The exposure what you are getting at IITB is unmeasurable. If you have the intention and willingness to learn anything you like, you can become a master in that in IITB. In a nutshell, the life at IITB is heaven.
You can also check your best chance for PSU's by following previous year cutoff. Visit this link : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/what-are-gate-scores-for-psu-recruitment
Hope I answered you question. Have a nice day. If you have any question please use the comment section.
Hello Shashank
If and only if your rank is Under 600-700 then you can get a call for Interview from IIT Bombay. It is understood that you can't get VLSI, Communication Systems. So,you have to focus on some lowe branches. If you want the top end Stream then you can opt some other IIT's like Roorkee or IITG.
HHy anu
I think you stand a good chance to get into iits but its very tough to get iit bombay but you'll definetely get iit like madras delhi guwahati
Best of luck for uptu and lpu nest hope u'll get good college in uptu like iet lucknow remember its not iit its iet
Actually you have a pretty good chance of getting admission in IIT-B if you are also applying for TA position you look at the last year's rank. The GATE score of the last candidate (general, TA category) admitted to IIT-B in Energy Science and Engineering is 679. However, the GATE score of last candidate to get admission in the same department in 2017-18 session is 723 (general). As you are from Mechanical branch, the cut off is higher for getting admission into another branch.
My college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments from both academics and sports activities. It has Hostels for all the students from btech, mtech to phds so we don't have to look for the Pg outside the college.
It is not hidden from anyone about IIT Bombay and its extraordinary infrastructure, the hostels, the departments, the convocation hall, the auditoriums, the playgrounds, the student activity centre, and what not, everything is just fab. Our campus has 24*7 WiFi. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) was ranked 118th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
Hostels here great to live in. The hostel experience is really memorable for any student. All hostels have 24*7 Wi-Fi access and connectivity. Hostel mess food is also far then that of the other college. Also, the hostels are quite safe and secure from the perspective of a girl students.
