Hi

This is a bit difficult to predict the percentile required in JEE mains as closing rank keeps changing every year  depending upon various factors like  number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the jee main examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.

But yes,

When we go through previous year trend then ,

Closing rank for some of the IIITs for which closing rank goes low are listed below along with their closing rank in the 6th round of josaa counselling 2020 for obc category  :-

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala,  Computer Science and Engineering  :- 14775 obc rank

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhopal, Information Technology:- 14417 obc rank

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT) Dharwad, Electronics and Communication Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology):- 15280 obc rank

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur, Mechatronics Engineering:- 16682  obc rank

You can verify the above at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

So, to get a seat in IIIT you should target at least around 15,000  OBC rank to be on the safer side i. e around 95 percentile.

Above prediction of is on the basis of past year data but  cut off/closing rank for colleges keeps changing every year depending upon many factors like number of students that appeared in the examination, difficulty level of the JEE main question paper for different shifts etc

Hello aspirant, first of all congratulations on getting 95.5 percentile in JEE mains. In this percentile your expected JEE rank is around 48k-50k. At this rank you won’t get CSE or IT in any IIITs. However there are several other college options available that you can explore -

-> Civil engineering and lower branches like metallurgy in NIT Patna, NIT Kurukshetra,

-> ECE branch in newer IIITs like IIIT Delhi. Electrical and electronics in IIIT Bhubaneshwar.

->CSE in PEC Chandigarh.

->Civil engineering in DTU.

-> ECE , mechanical and electrical branches in north eastern NITs like NIT Agartala.

Dear Saurabh,

To get admission in best NIT's and IIIT's you need to score very high percentile which is definitely 98 percentile or above, and for top branches you need to score more than 98 percentile. To check your rank according to your percentile you can go with this link to know https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Your marks should be around 130+ to get a seat in NIT or IIIT.

Best wishes.

Hello Aspirant,

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your OBC rank is expected to be in the range of 5000-6000 and CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 22813 - 25645 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that :-

Closing OBC rank for NIT Andhra Pradesh was :-

  • CS Engineering branch - 4886 (Home state quota)

Closing OBC rank for IIIT Jabalpur was :-

  • CS Engineering branch - 5892

So you have quite good chances to get IIIT Jabalpur with CSE branch but NITs would be quite difficult with CSE branch.
