In a situation where you are getting lower branches at IITs and top branches at very new NITs or IIITs, I would suggest you to go with the former option. If you would have secured a rank enough to secure a seat at one of the top NITs in CSE ECE ME EE, only in that case must you overlook your JEE Advanced Rank for JEE Mains. Secondly newer IITs have relaxed criteria for Branch Sliding , and you can always upgrade your branch once in Institute. Secondly, in todays Industrial Boom, at IITs whatever branch you are from you always have options to pursue and nurture your software and analytics skills, register for a Minor Degree besides Major and bag a Non Core Sector Job like any other CSE Student, hence more opportunities, unlike newer NITs.

Since you are stating you will be eligible for IIT BBSR Civil, assuming you are from GEN Category, you will also be eligible for the following branches

IIT Roorkee Geological Technology

IIT KGP Mining Engineering

Material Science/Metallurgical

Mechanical Chemical Engineering

At some of the noted new IITs.

From my perception IIT Gandhinagar Civil or Material Science should be the best choice, provided you are interested in it. IITGN Material Science is leading Reasearch and Development in the field of MSE today in India next to IISc and top IITs. Every year more than 50 students from IITGN Civil, Mechanical, Chemical and Material Science Engineering move to US to pursue their Masters. Gujrat itself provides ample opportunities for career and placement prospects. Do give it a thought.

Of course if IIT Bhubaneshwar has a vicinity advantage for you, do choose between Civil or Metallurgical there besides considering ISM Dhanbad and IIT BHU, both of which are standard Old Technical Institutes and provide proper training and placements are are located on the booming Eastern Industrial Belt of India.

As far as your JEE Main Rank, I believe you should consider options at IIIT Bhubaneshwar, IIIT Sri City and IIIT Vadodara in CSE and IT respectively, whichever is near your home state. Placements at all the three IIITs are comparable and are somewhat at par. However IIIT Sri City has an added advantage of being near Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai, the core IT hubs of India.

Although if you have no monetary issues and distance is not a problem, MSRIT CSE seems a more viable and standard option. Bangalore being an IT and Technology hub, will seriously help you in nurturing your ambitions and will provide better career prospects. Secondly Bangalore, will millions of aspirants and students provides a healthy atmosphere for students residing there.

Hey Rithika! Congratulations on your score! According to NIRF 2020, IIT Jodhpur is ranked 53 whereas NIT Rourkela is ranked 16. When it comes to choosing the right college, make sure that you find all the facilities under a single roof. Though it holds the tag of IIT, IIT Jodhpur is not superior to NIT Rourkela.

The facilities available at NIT Rourkela are:

  1. Infrastructure : There is good Wi-fi all around the campus. There's a library that constitutes thousands of textbooks and journals, and also video courses. The classes are spacious and are equipped with Projector screens. The Biotechnology lab is well-equipped with latest necessities. Hostels are immaculate and the mess food is good. Plenty of sports courts are available which includes  Cricket, badminton, basketball, football, volleyball, hockey, tennis and swimming.
  2. Faculty :  The staffs are highly qualified with masters and doctorate degrees. They are easily approachable. They provide letter of recommendation when a student is excellent.
  3. Placements : NIT Rourkela invited 212 recruiters with 1019 offers in 2019, with a highest package of 39.1 lakhs per annum. Placement is very good for CS, EEE, ECE and IT. The packages for Biotechnology varies from 5 to 15 lakhs per annum.

Taking IIT Jodhpur into account,

  1. Infrastructure : The college is still under construction and the new campuses are air-conditioned. The library is air-conditioned and houses numerous books. The class rooms are air-conditioned and decent. The sports complex offers various sports courts for cricket, football, kabbadi and badminton, and most are under renewal. Unlimited internet is provided 24*7. The hostel rooms are also air-conditioned with Wi-fi service. The food at the mess and canteen are not so good.
  2. Faculty : The staffs are well-qualified but some aren't much experienced like the teachers in other IITs. There are less number of faculties whne compared to the number of students.
  3. Placements : Placement packages for CS, EEE and ECE are high with an average of 14 lakhs per annum and highest of 44 lakhs per annum. The average placement percentage including all branches is 89%. Biotechnology branch is new here and the very first batch will be passing out in 2022. Hence, there are no placement records for Biotechnology yet.

I hope this was useful!

Hello,

Admission in to NITs and IIITs is based on merit in JEE Main. You have mentioned your JEE Advanced rank so here are few IITs in which you may have chances of getting seat under SC category based on previous year cut off

  • IIT, Bhubaneshwar: Civil, ECE, EEE, Mechanical
  • IIT, Mandi: EE
  • IIT, Delhi: Civil
  • IIT, Indore: Mechanical
  • IIT, Kharagpur: Civil

Cut off changes depending on number of candidates appeared, difficulty of exam and number of seats available etc.

You can use our JEE Advanced college predictor to know the chances of getting seat in IITs https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-advanced-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

Dear student,

As you have secured 94026 rank in JEE mains with your OBC category then it is quite impossible for you to get a seat in any NIT or IIIT.

For getting a seat in any good government college your rank must be under 20000 from obc category.
Because the competitions are increased very much and with this 94026 rank you can't even get the lowest branch in in any NIT or IIIT.

But if belong to home state quota then there might be a chance that you can get nits like NIT Manipur, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Srinagar, NIT Puducherry, nit sikkim.
But if you doesn't belong from home state quota then sorry you have no chance of getting a NIT or IIIT in any branch.
Also the chances of getting gftis is also very difficult.

Dear student,

As you are a general category student and have secured 92226 rank in jee mains , then sorry you will not get any nits or iiits.
As your home state in telangana then also got can nit any nit including nit warangal.
Also there is no chance for you to get even the lower nits or iiits.

Even in csab round you chances are low but in csab you can get some lower nits with this much general rank.

Or you better try at some other state colleges lr private institutions like kalinga institute of industrial technology or cv raman global university as many low rankers can easily get admission in these private colleges.

Dear Aspirant,it totally depends on your decision but if you need advice I can help you out. NIT and IIIT are renowned colleges and it is better to get a course over there but if you want to go for just CSE or IT then go for the DAIICT seat. I would recommend to check whether based on your rank you can get CSE or IT at NIT/IIIT. If not then make a decision after checking which course you are getting there and would you like to study it. Since it's your career the end decision is completely yours. The summary of my advice is that if you are getting IT/CSE at NIT/IIIT then go for it and if not then make your decision after proper research. Here is a college prediction website to check whether you can get into NIT/IIIT for your desired course based on your JEE mains rank:
