According to the previous years' data analysis, you may get the following branches in NIT Karnataka:

  • Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering

If you are interested in these branches, then you may go with them. If you want some other branch, then you have to perform better in the next attempt.

Best of luck!

Dear Aspirant,

Computer Science Engineering deals with the design and development of computer components, whereas, Information Technology is the branch of Engineering that deals with the application of computers in businesses.

DTU:-

Placements: The college is one of the best colleges in India. Also, the placements are very good in the college, according to the previous records, the average package is INR 9 LPA- INR 10 LPA, and for the computer Science students, it goes up to INR 16 LPA- INR 17 LPA. So, let alone the placements, the college life in the college is also very good. And most importantly, all the students got the placement with a very decent package.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is also very good, the whole campus is spread in almost 160 acres. This makes it the second-the largest college campus after the IIT, Delhi. The library of DTU is the place for the students during the summer. Everyone goes there during the non-period hours due to the availability of good Wi-Fi and the AC services. There is the canteen, medical facilities and a big enough ground for the students to play their favorite sports, we also have indoor game facilities at DTU.

Faculty: The teachers are very helpful at DTU. They solve your doubts to the point. Also, the course curriculum is very good and very relevant to the topics in the subjects. We have mid-sem exams and the end-sem exams at the end of the semester. The exams are not that hard, you can easily solve the paper if you have studied at least 70% of the syllabus. Also, you can get all the books related to your course curriculum in the library.

NSUT:-

Placements: The placements in NSUT are its USP (unique selling point). Every major product-based company comes here, be it Amazon, Flipkart, Facebook, Google, Adobe etc. The highest package has gone up to 2 Crore per anum, and the average package is 15-18 LPA. The placement percentage of technical branches is 100%, and non-tech branches also get some major companies like Nvidia. In short, if you are in NSUT, you can easily get a placement with a little bit of hard work.

Infrastructure: From the time NSIT has become an autonomous university, it has invested heavily in the infrastructure. As a result, now the Wi-Fi speed has increased (sometimes till 15MPBS in the library). Classrooms have 4 ACs, and every room has its own Wi-Fi along with projectors on which the professors can teach (they have a blackboard too). The labs need to be improved a little, but still, they have way better equipment than most government colleges (they still need to level up their labs to compete with private universities). They have a clinic in the college where you can get basic dressing in case of an accident. The library has ample books for you to read (but there are fewer books for literature which is understandable as it is an engineering college). They have a student activity center, with a gym, board games like carrom, chess etc. A reading room is present where you can study silently. The canteen food is inexpensive and quite tasty. Overall, it is better than most of the government colleges.

Faculty: The teachers are helpful and available if you have any doubts. They are also strict in their ways of teaching and don't tolerate any nonsense. Examinations are also conducted well on time so that you can have time for extra activities too (like coding) along with studies. The curriculum is more inclined towards the theoretical side than the practical side, but that is changing now because we have lab classes for most subjects, which means we can get more practical knowledge.

NIT Surathkal:-

Placements: In IT and CS courses, around 95-100% of the students get placed every year. The average salary package offered for our batch is around 10 LPA. Top companies that visited our campus include Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Arcesium, Visa, Samsung, Qualcomm, Uber, Intuit, etc.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are very good and well-equipped with projectors and Wi-Fi. The college provides facilities like a gym, swimming pool and a ground for various outdoor sports. Mess food is not that great. Night canteens are available till 2 am, which is good, with food which is slightly better than the hostel.

Faculty: Most of the teachers who teach us are fresh graduates without much experience. They used to read lines from PowerPoint presentations and didn't have clarity on the subjects. Still, there were a few good professors as well who were very knowledgeable. It is crucial to work under such professors for major and minor projects. The course curriculum is relevant.

Hi Rajesh,

The answer to your question depends on the factors based on which you're judging the colleges. To start with, both of the institutes are amongst the best engineering institutes of India, and in fact, some of the surveys ranked NIT Trichy higher than IIT BHU, but that doesn't mean IIT BHU is less good.

IIT BHU is one of the oldest IITs and has state of the art labs and libraries, Sports and Research facilities, and excellent placements. Not to forget, the bright peer group you will be surrounded by.  And the most importantly the ‘IIT Tag’ that will make you most happy. Keeping in mind all of the above factors, IIT BHU will provide an unmatched experience for sure.

Now NIT Trichy won’t give you an IIT tag, but surely it would provide you with the best infrastructure and placement offers. Also, NIT Trichy has lower fees when compared to IIT BHU.

In the end, it all boils down to the fact what you really want... a branch of your choice or a college tag.

Choose wisely and all the best.

Dear Aspirant,

With this percentile CRL Rank would be around: 194370 - 218500 .

JEE Mains Rank predictor tool:

Now considering ST category and this rank range &  according to previous year records of closing ranks there aren't much  chances for CSE Seat in NIT Surathkal .

Check out  more  college options using:

JEE Mains College Predictor  tool:

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Hope this helps.

Dear Aspirant,

Ofcourse you can get admission with this rank but you must know that it's no way that you are getting CSE/IT branch in a good reputed college with this rank. This is because the competition for these branches is over the top. These are the most popular branches. You may get some other branches in some lower rank colleges. You should attend the counseling session and wait for the best option. Also, there are some colleges which provide admission on the basis of management quota. You should try researching on that aspect as well.
My suggestion is that you should give other entrance exams as well like SRMJEEE, VITEEE, MHT-CET etc.

Hope this Helps!
Best Wishes

Could be better. Hostels are old. Cleanliness could be improved. People are nice. Staff is decent. They try to do their best but they struggle to accomplish the same. No hot water. Lot of bee hives and I've been bit multiple times. Food is nice.
