Autonomous colleges are those colleges that are affiliated to some university (most colleges are affiliated to VTU) but form their own syllabus and conduct their own exam. However, the degree is still awarded by VTU. Most other colleges follow the VTU syllabus

MVJCE used to be under the Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU) until 2018. However, in 2019 MVJCE transformed into an autonomous institute.
