is ECE in cmr institute of technology is good?

You can consider it a decent college to pursue ECE but not the best one. If you talk about about Faculty, insights, facilities, courses, reviews then these are also decent as the faculty is good as most of the teachers are well qualified and have good knowledge. Also, the placement

should i go for cmrit (with cs or information science) or take a drop of one year for iit preparation ?

Drop it ..it is worst college like a boarding school facilities .Placements are 2.5 lakhs average for csand it students

College Infrastructure

"Infrastructure is solid. The labs are air-conditioned and have good systems, which is what matters most for a CS student. The library is a great place to study; it’s quiet and has a good collection. The canteen food is okay—typical South Indian meals—but you’ll probably end up eating at the stalls outside the gate more often. The hostels are decent and kept clean, though the rooms are a bit small for the price. WiFi works, but it can be spotty during peak hours in the hostel
