Well equipped classrooms, proper workshops and labs. The campus is pretty large. The auditorium needs to be renovated. it is quite small for a big college like this. Everything you need is available inside the campus.
I studied Mechanical engineering B.Tech at this institution. I chose this institute because of its reputation. The institute has a good mix of young and experienced teachers. Help is readily available if needed.
Top companies including Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, IBS software conducted campus placement drives here. Most of my colleagues who attended the drive got placed and that too for decent salary offers.
Like all govt institutes the fee you have to pay is very low. For an affordable price you can avail of the hostel and college bus services in the institute. Canteen offers decent food for an affordable price.
The campus is very accessible. Bus service is available at all times. The ground is fairly large with a good gallery. The campus has an indoor auditorium and an open theatre. The maximum capacity of the auditorium is very low though.
college has very vast campus which will be above 80 acres. Each department and classroom have a unique and spacious design. Each department, especially mechanical department has large workshops and labs such as mechanical workshop, fluid mechanics lab, heat engine lab and are on different buildings. They are getting updated with technology such as FAB labs. some space congestions are present. But are getting updated such as new building for B.Arch. which was previously inside civil engineering department. College library is well maintained and have a distinguished infrastructure. There are 3 Ladies hostel and 2 Men's hostel with good food and Wi-Fi.
faculties are very knowledgeable and each of them have more than 2 journals published in their name which shows their continuing upgradation in academics. Due to this they are very much capable of helping students not only in mere classroom learning but also in project guidance and national competition participations. But mechanical engineering curriculum is not getting updated with today's development. Even though faculties are bridging the gap through electives and through integration with other departments.
there is a placement cell in college where faculties and students who got selected by interview get collaborated. Through that companies like oracle and L&T are coming for CSE and Mechanical department respectively.
even without scholarship course cost for whole one year will be below 10,000. considering all the opportunities and quality when speaking in materialistic terms the value is very much high.
this vast campus is part of a hill which fills it with full of lush green sceneries. bond between faculties and students themselves are great. even during 2018 floods students were safe inside the campus. but due to its enormous size sometimes it is difficult to make the whole campus alive during programs.
it was the best 4 years of my life.
Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam boasts modern facilities that enhance the overall learning experience. The campus features well-equipped labs, a contemporary library, and excellent sports facilities. These resources ensure that students have access to everything they need for a comprehensive education.
RIT is dedicated to providing an excellent academic environment. With various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, the institute emphasizes practical learning. Experienced faculty members guide students, and a focus in research keeps them updated with the latest advancements, preparing them well for future challenges.
RIT's placement cell is in securing promising careers for students. The institute has a strong track record of placing students in reputed companies. Industry connections are fostered, and students undergo rigorous training to meet job market demands. The consistent success in placements is a testament to RIT's commitment to student's professional growth.
Good infrastruture with large separate buildings for each departments. Has a lot of spots where students could gather and interact with each other. An Amphitheater and Architecture block is under construction. Due to Rubber plantation and hilly contour, college has a cool atmosphere on almost every season
The environment is really comfortable and facilitates formation of student group in academic and non-academic fields. Most Profesors and Associate professors are product of renowned IITs.Lectures are really good.Teachers also give proper guidance for Startups,Projects and other student ideas. There is a pleasant relationship between students and staffs.
Placement are a bit o a lower side. But academically and exposure wise, this college is recommended.Numerous placement offers for every department are coming through for every year. There is Placement cell operating for placement purpose only.
The cost of my course is less than Rs.10000 per year. College hostels has a decent mess with cheap rates. For those who are staying outside, there are enough hostels with cheap rates .
There are numerous clubs, associations in the college run by students, staffs and union. One could find the circle in which he/she fits.Whether it may be literature(Shabdika),NSS,Photography,Robotics,Astronomy,Dance, Music,IEEE,ISTE,SAE,Cinema,Football(F4-Football Fans Forum),etc. There will be numerous Tech-Cultural-Sports events .But RITU ... is our festival, our Emotion.
The admission cut-off ranks for B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) during 2018 varied depending on the exam (like JEE Main, state exams) and the specific college or institute. However, a general overview is provided below:
Top IITs:
In IITs like IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kanpur, ECE or related branches had cut-off ranks typically under 2000 for General Category candidates.
Newer IITs like IIT Bhilai, IIT Goa, and IIT Jammu had ECE cut-offs around 6000–8000 rank range.
Top NITs:
In premier NITs like NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Warangal, admission to ECE closed around 4000–7000 for General Category.
For home state quota candidates, the closing rank extended further, sometimes up to 9000–12000 .
IIITs:
In top IIITs like IIIT Hyderabad (ECE), the closing ranks were quite competitive, around 1200–2500 (based on JEE Main score).
Other IIITs like IIIT Gwalior, IIIT Guwahati, and IIIT Kancheepuram had closing ranks in the 15000–25000 range for ECE.
Government Engineering Colleges (State Level):
Through state-level counselling (like KCET, MHT CET, TNEA), the ECE branch was available up to much higher ranks, even up to 50000–80000 in certain colleges depending on the state and institute popularity.
Private Institutes:
In reputed private colleges like VIT, SRM, and Manipal, ECE seats were also given based on entrance exams or board marks, and ranks beyond 50000 could still secure a seat.
Important Note:
Exact cut-offs differ by category (General, OBC, SC/ST), home state quota, gender, and the counselling round (first round cut-offs are stricter; later rounds are more relaxed).
Some special seats (like EWS or PwD) also influenced rank-wise admissions.
