Hello there,

Both NIT and IIIT are good in terms of academics, faculty and placement. These are the second most preferred colleges of the JEE aspirants after IIT. Getting into either of the two is a good decision. But the cut-off ranks for the NITs are higher than the cutoff ranks for the IIITs for different branches.

You can read about NITs and IIITs in the links given below:

For NIT- https://engineering.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-top-nit-colleges-in-india

For IIIT-

Hope this helps you.

Dear Aspirant,if you are interested in computer science engineering and mechanical engineering both than I would recommend you to go for IIT Bangalore Computer Science Engineering. Computer Science Engineering is in demand and its worth is going to increase rapidly every year. The world is moving into a new era which requires CSE for advancement towards AI and ML. That does not reduce the worth of mechanical engineering. None is second to other. But according to me if you are getting an opportunity to study CSE at IIT then my suggestion would be go for it.

Hi,

Following are the fees paid by General student in various IIITs:

  1. IIIT Gwalior - 77,500 (per semester)
  2. IIIT Kota - 36,000 (per semester)
  3. IIIT Guwahati  - 66,400(per semester)
  4. IIIT Sonepat - 49,000 (per semester)
  5. IIIT Una Himachal Pradesh - 51,350 (per semester)
  6. IIIT Sri city - 1,29,000 (per semester)
  7. IIIT Dharwad -1,55,000  (per semester)

Based on these Data, IIIT Sonepat seems to have lowest fees. However various IIITs offers reimbursement of fees based on Category or community so actual fees may vary. There are other IIITs also but their fees is generally higher then above mentioned IIITs.

I hope this answer will solve your query.

Thanks!!!

Hello Aspirant,

On such EWS rank you have almost no chances to get any of the IIITs through JOSAA counselling because closing EWS rank in final round of JOSAA counselling were around 7-8k for IIITs. For your reference the closing ranks of last year were like :-

Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT) Una, Himachal Pradesh - Electronics and Communication Engineering (7114)

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Kancheepuram - Smart Manufacturing (8090)

Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management-Ahmedabad - Electrical Engineering (8001)

You can check out previous year's cut-offs from the official website of JOSAA as given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

So on such rank and category you have no chance to get any of the IIITs through JOSAA or CSAB counselling , so I would recommend you to either go for state counselling for autonomous government colleges or for private colleges or you can prepare for further attempts of JEE-Main and to help you in your preparation we have some resources which you can access from the link given below :-

https://learn.careers360.com/jee-main-coaching/?utm_source=%20QnA

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your marks, category, and state you can use JEE-Main College Predictor:-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

You can also check out the JEE-Main 2021 as given below :-

==>> Common Rank List (CRL) - 87.8992241-100.0000000 Percentile

==>> GEN-EWS - 66.2214845-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 68.0234447-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Caste (SC) - 46.8825338-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 34.6728999 87.8474721 Percentile

==>> PwD - 0.0096375-87.8273359 Percentile

You can check more details about JEE-Main 2021 cut-offs from the link given below :-

Hi.

Based on your rank and category and OPEN seat you will not be able to get into any NIT or IIIT with such a high rank.

You also need to mention your Category Rank and Home State as well, which might give you better chances in JOSAA.

You can use our College Predictor tool for JEE Mains to help you in finding college and branch of your choice based on your merits in the exam.

Good Luck

Some of the best IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), not to be confused with IIIT Hyderabad/IIIT Bangalore/IIIT Delhi, include

1. IT/EC at IIIT Allahabad (BEST Choice!!!)

2. CSE/IT at IIIT Lucknow

3. IIIT Bhubaneshwar

4. CSE at IIIT Pune/Guwahati/Vadodara/Surat

Hello,

Candidates who have valid JEE Main rank and who participated in JoSAA 2021 but did not get seat are eligible for CSAB 2021 special round. Also the candidates who are allotted seats through JoSAA 2021 but not accepted their admission or cancelled the allotted seats are eligible for CSAB 2021 special round. So if you want to participate in CSAB counselling you have to cancel the seat allotted in JoSAA counselling if you are allotted a seat. When you cancel the seat allotted in JoSAA counselling you cannot claim it if you do not get seat after CSAB counselling is concluded.
