BIET Jhansi Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college is the fully residential institution with four boys hostels and two girls hostel with an accommodation of over 1500 persons. The hostel facility is optional for students.The hostels are well furnished with necessary amenities and provided preferably to the Under Graduate students however the institute can accommodate PG students as per availability of the room. The 4 Mbps leased line Internet facility is available for 24×7 hours (except college hours) in each hostel. Each hostel has a Common Room with LCD television & Satellite Cable Connection to entertain the students. The students are personally responsible for the upkeep of the articles issued to them by the warden in sound condition. Hostel administration is managed by a Chief Warden and a team of Wardens drawn from the faculty and appointed by the Director for a tenure. Students also represent as mess secretaries and hostel secretaries/in charges of hostel administration.

The dispensary is the heartbeat of the institute which provides Treatment for different diseases and also provides first aid to the injured. B.I.E.T. has a fully fledged 24 hours medical dispensary with all the necessary arrangements to meet any emergency situation. One full-time medical officer (M.B.B.S.) is appointed by the college. The Medical Officer and dispensary staffs are available round the clock. Free prescription and medicine are available in college dispensary. The timings of the dispensary are notified from time to time. Students are advised to get themselves treated in the college dispensary. Serious cases are referred to the Medical College. Cases of serious illness and infectious disease must be immediately reported to the warden and Medical Officer. Ambulance facility is also available in the college and can be availed by a student/patient on the recommendation of the medical officer and/or seriousness of the case by the concerned Hostel Warden.

For students to stay fit and healthy, gym and fitness centre facilities are provided to the students they include treadmill, exercise bikes and more of the latest fitness equipment. In addition, there are opportunities to take part in a wide range of ‘lifestyle’ or fitness activities from aerobics to working out in modern, well-equipped fitness studios, leading to wellness. The central gym for men at the institute is also equipped with bodybuilding equipment. Gyms and fitness centres are open both in the morning and evening hours.

B.I.E.T. central library serves as the perennial source of knowledge that quenches the thirst of students as well as faculty members. It has a rich collection of 35,000 books including 8,300 books funded by World Bank on various current and emerging technologies related to various streams and 6500 books for SC/ST Student. B.I.E.T. Library has a Library Software TLS which works for the arrangement and complete automation providing the students an easy reach to all the books available. The library has a supply of more than 86 journals and around 580 back volumes of IEEE, ASME, ASCE, Springer, McGraw Hill, Wiley Blackwell, Emerald, Elsevier, J-Gate ASTM Digital Library, etc. Online journals are provided to students through Incest and others. Beside a reading hall with a collective seating of 160 students at a time, library also has a fully air-conditioned and closed circuit monitored reference room having books related to all streams of Engineering and remains open from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. The calm & poise atmosphere thus offers students the most comfortable and adequate environment for enhancing their knowledge.Our Library also has a high speed 20 Mbps lease line network with 28 terminals for students giving them the facilities for on the spot processing.

Games by their name are enjoyable, challenging, absorbing and require a certain amount of skills and physical fitness. Games and Sports have the very prominent role in modern society. Dr. S. Mandal is the physical instructor of the institute who takes the personal interest in the upliftment of this skill. The institute is having the sufficient number of standard and modern equipment to carry out daily activities in outdoor as well as indoor games. This year the institute invested a lot to develop the best infrastructure to included personality traits by different game and sports activities. Following this roadmap institute has built a big indoor stadium, 400 meters standard tracks, two lawn tennis court with boundary wire net and standard Basketball court in girls hostel. Every year the institute organizes a sporting event named PACE. During Feb 20-22, 2010 the institute organised Inter Engineering College Sports Meet PRABHANJAN and bagged overall first position.

To make the Faculties/Students Up to Date with latest technologies the institute provides internet facility to the entire faculty, Staffs and Students and makes the sharing of knowledge simpler and better. College is having a 100 Mbps Internet connection, locally networked and connected through more than 10 wi-fi routers for covering the whole campus to the central server. Each hostel is fully wi-fi with 4 MBPS internet connection and also 50 additional LAN ports installed. This facility is available for students for their project work and seminar presentations. It is also to access to e-books, study materials, previous question papers, teaching schedules etc. Internet facility in the hostels is provided except in college hours. However, the student can access the internet in the college library during college hours too. 100 KBPS speed is ensured to the students.

In addition to the provision of nutritious food, the canteen has an important role within the broader college environment in complementing the knowledge, skills and behaviors about healthy eating and lifestyles that are taught in the classroom. The food provided within the college environment has a considerable influence on the development of student’s long-term eating habits, food preferences and attitudes towards food.The college canteen plays an important role in promoting healthy foods and creating a college culture of healthy eating. This can extend beyond the college environment and influence food choices within the family and community and enhance the social and multicultural aspects of food and eating. There are five canteens within the campus. Four canteens are for the boys and one for the girls. All the canteens are located inside the hostels. A Central Canteen is also provided within the campus of the Institution. The canteen provides fresh nutritious food at nominal rates.

A 1500 -seater acoustically equipped air-conditioned auditorium is one of the state-of- assets of BIET. Spread across 500 sq. meters, the facility is used for institutional and departmental activities. The college has one auditorium. The auditorium is used for activities such as seminars, guest lectures, cultural activities, department functions and other events. The auditorium has provision for latest public addressing systems, LCD projectors, slide projectors and comfortable seats.

The institute is having a fleet of buses which takes rounds to the city to provide transportation to students and staff to different locations in and nearby area every alternate day. The College has its own transport facilities, including well maintained College buses, which operates smoothly in bringing our students to markets and also in taking them back safely to their hotels. The Transport Department of B.I.E.T. Jhansi is enriched with 2 buses, two SUVs and one staff car to transport staff and students.

The college has a good networking for alumni association.

A post office (Pin: 284128) is situated inside the campus providing postal services to students/faculty/staff of the college. The post office is located beside the Workshop Building and works on all weekdays from 10.00 A.M. to 2.00 P.M.

The college has a Guest House, located at a walking distance from the Administrative block, to welcome all the honorable guests of the college which has total six double-bed well-furnished rooms. All the rooms are Air Conditioned. All the necessary amenities are provided in the guest house. The guest house has an attractive lawn. The Guest House facility is available to the HRs, external examiners, special invitees/guests of the college as well as to the parents of the students.
