The University is separate from MSRIT (M.S. Ramaiah Institute of technology) which is affiliated to VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University) and M.S. Ramaiah Medical college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science.

Try to keep some back up option as cutoffs tend to change every year based on various factors.

Bms college of engineering Bangalore -

The admissions to UG courses are granted on the basis of COMEDK.

Ramaiah institute of technology bangalore  -

For admission into B.E and B.Arch course, the institute accepts KCET/COMEDK

So, These institutes don't accept JEE main score

According to your question and taking into consideration that you are in supernumerary quota and you have got 1L all india rank in KCET.

With this rank it is tough to get a good upper branch in these colleges but branches like industrial and management in bms you have a good chance to get there. Same as for ramaiah and other parallel colleges.

In terms of placements, you will definitely get placed with either options if you maintain basic cut offs.
But overall what matters is your skills, you will have to work very very hard in both branches in both colleges.

If you want to work in core companies like Intel,EMD. You must opt for ECE branch at MSRIT.
If your prefer IT sector,you should choose CSE at DSCE.

The cutoff varies every year as it depends on the number of students appearing for exam . As per the previous year cutoff to get mechanical branch in msrit rank is 9825 . This is expected cutoff this may change. For details you can visit official website.

to work in software company, why do you need mechanical engineering. mechanical is such a tough department to study in. so if you are really interested in software, then join CSBS or CSE or IT department.

but answering your question, yeah, any department student can join software comany. provided if you have coding, presentation and office skills.
