Hey Aruna:)

Thanks for reaching out!

Both are strong in their own fields, the better choice depends on whether you prefer electronics or software

IIIT ECE(VLSI and Embedded system)

Focuses on chip design, embedded systems, and hardware-software integration. Placement are solid in semiconductor and electronics firms(slightly lower average than CSE packages)but has stable niche roles and the campus is more academic and research-oriented

VIT CSE-AI

You'll learn coding,AI,data science and machine learning. placements are in IT and software companies, with generally higher average salaries .Campus life is vibrant with fests, clubs and activities.

Choose IIIT if you want a niche career with stable growth

Choose VIT for software careers and an active campus experience .

Hope you'll find this helpful!

IIIT Pune does not offer an MCA program—so joining for MCA isn’t possible.

If your interest lies in software or IT, you might consider M.Tech programs in relevant fields, provided you qualify via GATE and meet the academic requirement (usually ~60% marks).

Otherwise, look into other institutes that offer MCA, especially if you're inclined toward that specific degree.

If you are from General-EWS category and your family income is less than Rs 1 lakh per year, then you are eligible for full tuition fee waiver at IIIT Nagpur under the Government of India rules.

This means you will not have to pay the tuition fee. But you will still need to pay other fees like hostel fee, mess charges, development fee, library fee and other service charges.

To get the fee waiver, you need to submit your income certificate showing that your annual family income is below Rs 1 lakh. You also need to give an affidavit or undertaking in the format given by the government.

After taking admission, you should also apply for government scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal or your state scholarship website. These may help you with hostel or other fees also.

Between NIT Andhra EEE, NIT Raipur Chemical, and IIIT Kanchipuram Mechanical (dual), NIT Andhra EEE is a better choice for core placements and future flexibility, especially if you’re inclined towards electrical or electronics-based roles or wish to explore software jobs. NIT Raipur Chemical is decent but has limited core opportunities unless you’re passionate about chemical engineering. IIIT Kanchipuram’s dual degree in mechanical can be good if you’re targeting research or higher studies, but placement-wise, it’s relatively weaker. Overall, NIT Andhra Pradesh offers a more balanced and industry-relevant option.

Since you’re in Basar IIIT and have completed your second year, it’s normal to feel confused about branch selection. The best way to decide is to look at what subjects you’ve enjoyed most so far and what kind of work you see yourself doing in the future. If you are interested in coding, problem solving, or software related jobs, then CSE or ECE would be a good choice. If you like working with electronics, hardware, or circuits, then ECE is a strong option too.

Congratulations on securing 580 marks in 10th and getting into IIIT! It’s absolutely okay to feel confused about which branch to select — it’s a big decision, and many students go through this phase.

Here are some tips to help you decide:

  1. Understand your interests – Do you enjoy problem-solving and logic? You might like Computer Science. If you love math and design, consider Electronics or Data Science.

  2. Explore each branch – You can research the syllabus and future career paths for branches like CSE (Computer Science), ECE (Electronics), IT (Information Technology), etc.

  3. Talk to seniors and teachers – Try reaching out to current IIIT students on platforms like LinkedIn or Quora for real insights.

  4. Think long-term – Choose a branch that aligns with your career goals or higher studies (like software development, government jobs, or research).

Don’t worry if you're still unsure. Many students discover their interests in the first year itself. Choose what excites you the most!

Hello Aspirant,

When evaluating NIT Jalandhar's B.Tech in CSE vs IIIT Gwalior's Integrated B.Tech + M.Tech in IT, both are built upon but cater to specific needs. NIT Jalandhar has a 4 year core Computer Science programme that offers the NIT brand value and flexibility seeing as the student has complete freedom to choose what to do in 4 years ie jobs vs higher studies vs another field.

On the other hand, IIIT Gwalior offers a 5 year integrated IT programme (similar to B.Tech + M.Tech) to students who want to make a long term commitment to tech and prefer to have a strong academic continuity and good placements. Although both institutions are similar in terms of their placement packages offered in the software domain, most probably students at NIT Jalandhar want to follow tech path while still keeping other options open and brand recognition and positive association, while students at IIIT Gwalior probably want the complete all in one tech journey.

Hello

It's completely normal to feel confused about choosing a branch after your second year at IIIT Basar many students go through the same phase. The best way to approach this is by reflecting on what genuinely interests you.

If you enjoy problem-solving, programming, or building tech solutions, branches like Computer Science (CSE), Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Data Science might be great fits. If you're more inclined toward hardware, networks, or electronics, consider the ECE program. Look into what each branch offers in terms of subjects, future job roles, and industry demand.

Hello!

Here are some popular branches that you can chose:

1. Computer Science and Engineering - It is very high in demand nowdays. The placements are also very good in this field. If you like coding and software development this is the best branch for you.

2. Electronics and Communication Engineering- It is also high in demand. In this branch less coding  is involved.

3. Electrical and Electronics Engineering - it is good if you are interested in heavy electronics and Circuits. Job chances are decent.

4. Mechanical Engineering - it is good for design , manufacturing and government jobs.

5. Civil Engineering- If you are interested in infrastructure, construction and designs than you can chose this. Private jobs are limited.

Hello,

For admission to IITs, NITs, and IIITs under the OBC-NCL category, your OBC-NCL certificate must be issued by the state where your domicile is . Since your domicile is Maharashtra, your OBC-NCL certificate should also be issued by Maharashtra authorities, even if your caste is in the central OBC list.

So, a Uttar Pradesh-issued OBC-NCL certificate may not be accepted for reservation in IITs, NITs, IIITs if your domicile is Maharashtra.

What you should do:
Apply for a fresh OBC-NCL certificate in Maharashtra. Make sure it is based on your caste being in the central OBC list.

This will help you avoid any issues during counselling and admission.

Hope it helps !
