BIT Sindri was established in 1949. At that time it had one of the best infrastructure with all the equipments. With time other colleges developed but all the equipments of our college were not changed along with the infrastructure. However in recent times major focus has been given to the infrastructure but the labs and the equipments are still not in working conditions. The computer labs are good and Siemens' centre of excellence is also some recent advancements. Hostels are average.
I am currently studying mechanical engineering. Some professor are really good. The new professors are focusing more on the conduction of classes and they are putting their 100% effort. However in mechanical departments the labs equipment are very old and it should be changed. College should focus more on student's projects and providing them a working exposure.
The placements are very average. Tata Steel provides pre placement opportunities in the 3rd year to around 5 students with CTC around 12 lpa. The other company that visits are ABG, JSL, Verdant, Adani, L&T, Honda R&D, TCS Ninja, Cognizant, Tata Power, ZS etc. and most of them provide fixed CTC. The average package of the college is 4.83lpa. Last year a total of 318 students were placed.
The best thing about our college is the Return on investment or the value for your money. The annual fee is around 16K only and the total hostel charge(along with electricity charge) is only 7K for a year. The mess charge is 3K per month and the quality of food is average. You complete your engineering degree from a reputed college without spending large amount which you pay in private colleges. So if you get placement from her (which you would if you work good) it would be amazing for you.
You would enjoy your campus life here (if you make good friends). The seniors are amazing and supportive. You would learn here to enjoy all the little things in life. The hostel life masti is the best thing. You will enjoy the campus. There's one canteen here. But you have to travel around 35kms if you want to watch a movie or visit a mall as it is located in the outskirts of dhanbad. However there are local markets where you will get amazing street food.
The college is developing now. In my 3 semesters of college I saw great change in the infrastructure. The clubs are really good (if you join BIT Sindri make sure you join some clubs). The placements are also increasing. The seniors are amazing here. The faculties are also good and the Siemens Centre of excellence is a great place to learn.
The college infrastructure is improving since the college is under renovation. Classes are clean and good. Smart boards have been installed. Laboratories are outdated as most of the equipments are too old and some don't even work. There's an auditorium where functions are held. Hostels are good. Rooms are spacious and clean. Wifi isn't provided by the college here. Mess food is average. For sports and games there's a ground called common ground where all the stuffs are available for playing.
The academic part in this college is a weak point. The teachers have good qualification but they lack in teaching skills. The syllabus was updated as the university has changed. Some new subjects have been intriduced. Apart from regular classes GATE and CAT classes are organised by the Institute for proper grooming of students.
The placements are average in the campus. Last year i.e. in the batch of 2018-19 around 320 students were placed. The average package is around 4.83 lpa. Many students get placed off campus too. The maximum package last year was 10.12 lpa. Though conditions are improving with time.
This is the best part about this college. In terms of ROI this college is one of the best in India. The fees is less and hostels and mess are cheap too. According to the amount the facilities provided are good.
The campus life is the best part of the college. There are various clubs and socities in the college which organise events all around the year. The tech fest and cultural events are organised pretty well. Sports events are organised too. The students are very interesting and seniors are very supportive as well. There's greenery all around the campus and it is located at the heart of the city.
The infrastructure in the college is good and is improving since the college is under renovation. The classrooms are clean and well maintained. Smart boards have been installed in the classes. Laboraties are bit outdated as most of the equipments are very old and few are not even working. Some labs are newly constructed and consist of state of the art equipments. Hostels are clean and well maintained but there is no wifi facility provided by the college. Mess food is average.
Academics are average in the college. The syllabus of every branch was renewed recently and few topics have been added. More focus is given on theoretical teaching rather than practical. Some teachers have good knowledge of the subject. Free classes for GATE and CAT exams are organised by the institute apart from regular class.
Placements are average in the college. Most of the students get placed sooner or later. Here the students are more focused towards GATE and government exams. In the year 2018-19 38 companies visited the institute with companies such as ADITYA BIRLA GROUP, TATA STEEL, HONDA R&D. Total of 317 students was placed with an average package of 4.83 LPA. The maximum salary was 10. 12 LPA offered to students of ECE and Metallurgy branch. TAP cell is very active in the college.
In terms of ROI, this college is one of the best colleges in India. The academic fees is around 15,000 which includes tution fee, examination fee and student fund. Hostels are cheap too. You will not regret after coming here.
The campus life is good and exciting. There are various clubs and societies in the college such as Arts Club, Literary Society, Sports club and technical clubs such as Model club which organise events throughout the year so there's always something going on in the campus. The students are very friendly and the college has a very good environment. The campus has greenery all around. There's a dispensary in the college too. Security isn't a problem here as guards are present everywhere.
The college is a good one with very good campus life. You will enjoy your every bit here.
The infrastructure of the college is quite well and good. Although the renovation work of various department buildings and laboratories is in progress but is expected to be completed soon. The central library has enough space and has a huge collection of books for academics and competitive examinations both. The hostels are maintained quite well and clean and the mess food is also hygienic. There is no wifi facility available in hostels but work is in progress to connect hostels with OFC.
The institute has a good number of well-qualified professors in all the departments and the quality of their teaching is good and very much informative. The curriculum of all the departments in the institute run parallel to that of IIT Kharagpur. The Centre of Excellence established in the institute has various advanced siemens laboratories where students can take advanced trainings related to their branch and groom themselves. The institute also provides GATE and CAT coaching to the students.
The placement record of the college is above average but not too strong. A good number of soft and core companies like TATA STEEL, WIPRO, TATA POWER, JSL, etc visit the campus every year and offer jobs as well as internships to the students. The average package goes around 5.5 to 6 LPA. The placement cell of the institute is working hard to bring more number of companies on the campus. There is also a Startup cell that helps the budding startup minds in the institute to get the right direction.
The fee of the institute is very less as compared to the quality of course that it offers. The institute ranks 1 all over the country in Return on Investment. The whole four-year fee is less than 2 lacs. It has a very strong and supportive alumni network and various scholarships are provided by the alumni to the meritious students as well as economically weak students every year.
The campus life here is just full of fun. There are various cultural and technical clubs in the institute where students can persue their hobbies like photography, singing, painting, etc. These clubs organize various online events as well as mega cultural and technical fests every year where students can engage themselves and compete with each other. The institute is located in Sindri and there is Sindri Railway Station just outside the campus.
If you could not make it to the IITs and some of the top NITs then I think this is the best option available to you as a Jharkhand state resident. You will get enough time in the college to prepare yourself for GRE, CAT, GATE, etc.

Studying in the foremost premier government college of Jharkhand is itself a matter of pride for every student. Well the college covers an area of 450 acres and the infrastructure is under construction and renovation. All the facilities are well good and the classroom and other academics are also well maintained. Each classroom has a smart class installed for proper and quality education .Complete care of hygiene is taken in hostels and other places where sanitation plays an important role.
I am pursuing metallurgical engineering because without materials no other thing is sustainable and acts as a backbone for the other streams as well. The quality of teaching is up to the mark and efforts are put in to further improve the quality of education. The development in this arena is almost day to day and knowing the basics well would be the best way rather than expanding the curriculum with new developments. Having knowledge and proper communication skills makes you job ready.
The placements scenario especially the metallurgical engineering branch has a phenomenal record of almost 96 percent to 98 percent every year. Other branches have also shown an increase in the past four to five years with almost 60 percent. The highest salary offered last year was an annual package of 11 lacks from metallurgical engineering. The college is very supportive when it comes to placement. The procedures are simple and same comprising of a written test followed by a gd and an interview
Yes, good infrastructure has been developed in recent years. With the efforts of Jharkhand government BIT has developed good infrastructure from what it was few years back. However it is still behind IITs and NITs in terms of infrastructure.
Quality of teaching is good but you have to work from your own side also. All branches have some good professor and the labs are average. Many laboratory equipments didn't work but the change is going on.There is a Siemens lab which is by far the best in the country.
Average placement occurs. The average package at Birsa Institute of Technology is in between 5,00,000 to 6,00,000 lakhs. The placement is good in metallurgy, computer science,Information Technology and ECE Dept is very good.
It is quite good in terms of value for money. In terms of return of investment BIT is one of the best college of the country. It has a very low fee and fee will not be any hurdle for the deserving candidates.
Campus life is good.It is approximately 28 km away from Dhanbad. There is not much thing around the college.Although the bond between the senior and junior is the best thing about the college.Seniors help the junior in everything whether it is academics, books etc
BIT Sindri is worth college. At the end of four years the best thing you will collect here are the memories.BIT was once the best college of India during 60-70s,I hope it will regain it's past glory ..
Infrastructure of college is fairly good, many of the building are under construction, new hostels for boys and girl have made in recent year which has all necessary facilities and also well designed.Classrooms are large with sufficient sitting space and teaching equipments. Our central library have sufficient book for student of all year.Book can be issued at very low cost .Siemens lab is proud of our college where student of different college come to learn here.
Talking of academic of my department ,i am satisfied with teaching process but some improvement are needed from both professor side and student side.Syllabus are huge and some time professor leave some topic to us as they are not able to complete in time.Student also do lot of mass bunk. Many student study by video lecture in room instead of professor lecture in class.Lab work /workshop are well performed. There is separate siemens lab for each department where students is well trained.
Placement of college is satisfactory. From my department around 72% seniors had been placed last year.Overall placement of our college is above 75%.Companies like wipro,TCS, Vedanta,L&T,Zindal, are regular recruiter. There is separate TPO cell for this field which look over the placement of college and train the student for campus placement.
This college give you lot in less money .For girls it is even more less .Under 3 lakh you can complete your 4 year including all your hostel, electricity and mess fee.Government are also expending money for betterment of this college .Siemens lab and Incubation center are example which has excellent facilities .New lab has also been established like Nanotechnology lab .So overall we gaining lot knowledge by paying less.
Campus life is very enjoyable and learnable. There is separate hostel for all years.Seniors and Juniors relationship has been improved.Ragging is not allowed in college.College is at the centre of Sindhi town. After few kilometers there is railway station .Two small market Sharpurara and kandra are there for shopping .Stationary shop ,xerox and photo shops all are available at the main gate .There is also Bit canteen. There is SBI bank inside campus and also a ATM inside and outside campus.
Yes,BIT SINDRI has well developed infrastructure .It provides digital classroom in which projectors and smart board.Central library is digitally maintained and books are sequentially arranged.Laboratory has good quality of instruments and new equipments also imported.College campus is neat and clean.Club ground is sports centre in which various sports accessories and kits provided.Hostels are well maintained and clean.Hostel mess provides appropriate quality of food. There is no wifi in college.
I'm persuing B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering.I had choosed this branch on my interest and there are lots of job opportunities in electronics because this is era of electronics. The quality of teaching is outstanding as BIT Sindri has well qualified teachers having experience of decades.Yes,recently our syllabus has updated and syllabus is more efficient accross jobs due to more labs and trainings are introduced in it.Syllabus along with extra curr. activities makes us jobready
The overall placement is good.In Metallurgy branch 80 to 90% students were placed therefore metallurgy has better placement records in recent years.Totall 45 to 50% students were placed previous year.In ECE approx 60 to 70% students were placed.Highest package was 10.11 LPA got 8 students by TATA STEEL and HONDA R&D.The average salary offered was 5 LPA.As i'm in 4th semester so i didn't face any placement procedure so i don't know.
Tuition fee +Exam fee= 16k +4k(2k in one semester) this is the annual fee i.e 20k per year. Some other fee like college development ,library ,hostel maintenance, hostel electricity, mess etc are not included.Yes ,definitely I'm getting my money worth because we are getting a huge and clean campus ,well maintained infrastructure ,green environment, digital classrooms with projectors, laboratories, digital library, also Siemens lab are there where various training courses are available.
BIT Sindri has a huge campus about 700 acres of land .The institute is full of greenery and flaura fauna sprawling accross the campus.BIT's campus consisting of different departments, admin building,LH,IT building, workshops, labs, hostels and covered in forest. The best thing Is its environment. There are lots of trees and gardens which makes campus free from pollution.Infrastructure of BIT Sindri not appropriate it should be watch out.Yes it is safe and handle emergencies easily.
Campus placement is a big problem at BIT Sindri so the problem should be solved. I'm very satisfied with infrastructure and quality of teaching. The only thing in which I'm not satisfied is sudden change in notice and notifications for any event. We get information for the form filling just one before. In my point of view , it is one of the best institute in this fee structure.
