Infrastructure is a little above average. Basic facilities are by and large available. Classrooms and hostels are immensely facilitated by WiFi. Environment of the college is good. The laboratories are well furnished with all the equipments. There is no basketball court though.
I am studying Mechanical Engineering here because Physics & mathematics have been my favourite subjects since childhood. The professors are talented and enlighten students enough with the knowledge, although at time I feel the practice is getting old. The curriculum in my department is updated and anyways the concepts are evergreen with time. If you keep with everything going on in the university, you are job ready.
Almost 100% placements in Jadavpur University in pretty much all the branches. Well, there are also several students who pursue higher studies. The package we are offered is like ranging from 7 Lakhs PA to 30 Lakhs PA. Companies like Samsung, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, etc visit our university.
The fees for my department is around 3000 per year. Yes, you read that right. The fees are very low because it is a state University and the government owns it. So, it's quite obvious that we are getting much more than we are paying here.
I am giving two stars for 1 bad reason and its ragging. non-Bengali students face unprecedented problems regarding that and at times it's tough to manage stuffs if you are not smart enough. Else you will enjoy being the part of debating group, clubs, etc. Srijan and Sanskriti are one of the major fest annually.
Go for it but Beware of ragging.
College provides all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments needed for proper understanding of our course. We have a high-speed WiFi enabled campus and each departmental building has one Library where one can lend books and also avail online research material at ease. The living spaces are generally clean and the food here is extremely good and cheap.
I am pursuing Civil Engineering here. The quality of teaching is unparalleled. The curriculum is upto date and includes all the recent developments in this field. The professors take special care in making us aware of the industrial use of all the topics taught and hence make us instantly job ready candidates.
The placements in Jadavpur University are famous all over West Bengal. Top companies come to our college for placements. Many students get multiple job offers and more or less everyone gets placed. The percentage placed is nearly 85-90 percent each year and the top packages cross 60 lpa. The average package is around 15 lpa. Our college has an extremely student friendly placement cell. In fact a lot of student bodies take part in the placement drives and hence the placements are these good.
The course costs us just 11500 for 4 years! That’s just around 2500 a year! You won’t find any college this cheap with this level of placements. We feel we are getting much much more than the amount we pay for.
The Campus Life is just Awesome! A student can do so much in our college. There are various activities that are organised nearly each and every month! We have a gym totally free for the students! We have mountaineering clubs, art clubs, photography clubs, dance and music clubs and so on! You can even learn foreign languages here : Spanish, French, German, Chinese, etc etc. The teachers are extremely frank and open to students. College is extremely near to AMRI hospital and South City Mall.
Yes, my college has most of the necessary infrastructure and facilities. The departmental library is wonderful and a treasury of many important books but the classrooms are not so tidy. Morover the washrooms of arts building are not hygienic at all.
The teachers are extremely helpful and supportive. The teacher-student relationship here is something the university can boast off. As a student of comparative literature I learned to read a text in a different way and discover the new dimensions of it. I actually have little idea about the career option so it's difficult for me to say if the study makes me job ready or not but all I can say that this study gives me immense joy.
The quality of placement is pretty well and our university is extremely supportive in this regard though I don't know such things in details so I'm unable to answer the questions asked here. All I can say that the students of engineering deoartments get exceptionally wonderful placements.
It cost Rs.1200 per year which is affordable for many students who don't belong to well off familes. Moreover there are facilities of concessions for deserving candidates.
The college campus is a free and liberal space where you can gossip about everything from politics to literature and various art forms. But often students take advantage of this and get intoxicated in the campus. Incidents of sexual harassment also have been reported in the campus.
The infrastructure is good enough. The spaces are clean. There's wifi available. In my subject we really do not need a smart board, it might be there in the departments where it is necessary. There are departmental and central libraries.
I'm studying Comparative literature because I want to know more about literatures of the world, the similarities and dis similarities between them. The quality of teaching is outstanding and the curriculum is updated enough.
As per my knowledge, the quality and percentage of student placements is excellent. The highest salary package possibly went to the department of electronics and electrical engineering this year. Since I'm a second semester student I'm not very much aware.
The course fee per annum along with the admission fee had been something around 1200 Indian rupees. It is offcourse worth, considering the infrastructure, quality of education and knowledge, as well as maintenance.
The location is safe enough, with a police station and a hospital within a kilometer range - so it can handle emergencies. The students, teachers, and the support staff work like a family here in Jadavpur.
Yes,it has all necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment. We have well furnished laboratory, fully stacked library, modern sports center, numerous hostels for accommodation and well maintained is available in campus.Digital classroom is available.Living places are clean and food is good.
I am studying Production Engineering. Its a branch of Mechanical engineering.Quality of teachers is average. They focus more on memorising. No curriculum is not updated.Somewhat,we are made job ready and do bag good offers from the companies that do visit us regularly.
Placements are good.Around eighty percent students are placed. Electrical engineering saw highest placement with one crores package. Average placement is around five to seven lpa.Placement process is smooth and pleasant. College is supportive
Its the cheapest in India with just Rs ten thousand for entire course. I feel the programme is justified at this cost.Good placements and infrastructure are the reasons for making it worth.
Good campus life and lush green.Campus donot have restrictions on smoking. Its pretty bad.Students can do lots of work.Fests go around the year. All are supportive.Best location in South Kolkata. Very safe.Yes it can handle emergencies.
Very nice place to have graduation done from.
Jadavpur University has 2 huge campuses. One is in Jadavpur and the other is in Saltlake. The classrooms are well maintained and air-conditioned.There is a central library in Jadavpur campus and another library is in Saltlake campus. Each department has its departmental libraries. All the two campuses have the facility of WIFI service.Hostels are clean and well maintained. There is a huge playground, basketball, badminton, volley, handball courts and the sports pavilion serves all sports equipment.
I am studying Electrical Engineering because I am very much fond of electrical circuits, motors, generators. The teachers are highly qualified, most of them completed their PHD from prestigious institutes all over the India. They make each and every topic very interesting to us.Most of them are teaching for a long time and they know how to guide. Our 1st year curriculum is common for all departments and rest years curriculum is updated and includes all the recent developments in the field.
In the term of return on investment Jadavpur University is unbeatable.Last year 100% student were placed from Computer Science department.Taking average almost 85%+ students were placed.Highest salary package was 50 lakhs per annum and it was offered to a student of Computer Science department.30-40 students got a package above 30 lakhs per annum.Average salary was above 10 lakhs per annum.Jadavpur University has a strong placement cell.Top recruiters were adobe, amazon, samsung, goldman sachs etc.
Engineering courses here cost very low in comparison to IITs,NITs,IIITs,BITS etc.Every engineering courses except Information Technology cost only 5710/- for two years.Information Technology cost 30860/- per year, still much lower than other institutes. To appear in the semester examinations you have to pay only 74/-. Also there are facilities in fee structure for TFW(Tuition Fee Waiver) candidates. After paying very low amount students are taking packages above 10 lakhs per annum which is awesome.
You will enjoy your campus life.Besides your academic curriculum you can engage yourself in various societies like debating societies, science club, motor sports club, coding club, music club.Every year SRIJAN(a society handled by students) organises annual techno management fest.We have our cultural fest also named SANSKRITI.Students, teachers are very supportive. It is just 20 km away from airport and very near from Jadavpur Railway station. It is very near from AMRI hospital Dhakuria.
If you are interested for competitive exams like GATE,CAT you can take help from your seniors. You will get enough time for preparation.I will recommend you should definitely go for it.You will never find any college which will provide you best return on your investment.According to Youtuber and career influencer Aman Dhattarwal this is best college in terms of return on investment.
Infra is very good and just fab with all the facilities being provided. Its located in main kolkata with all requirements. There is wifi support, smart boards and the library is very big with lots of books.
The only issue is ragging. Non bengali students have to face major ragging issue. Professor are very good and it is a very known college even better than several iits. The quality of teaching is good.
Placement record is very good here. There are many offers made by reputed companies like google, Microsoft etc and the average package of software branches is nearly 16 lacs and for other branches its 8 to 9 lacs which is very good.
The fee is just 2400 per year and Its not a joke. You are getting a very good collage in a very very low amount.
Hostels are not too good due to ragging issue else everything is good.
Jadavpur university is the pride of West Bengal, as we know university have eco-friendly and green campus, it spread over 58 acres of campus and have good infrastructure including gymkhana, library, academic blocks and more things
Jadavpur university is famous for their academics as well as placement, by seeing academics, university provides great academics as well as good teaching also, all teaching staff is well and good qualified.
University recorded as the state best placement providing university as well as university give the opportunity to work in multinational companies including google, Microsoft and lots of other companies.
Of course university is worthy for how much we pay, college is government and it provides great accommodation in very small fees.
Campus life is not that much good, students are fighting and strikes happen ever time, university is co-education, and trying to stop all this activities..
The biggest problem with majority of the current infrastructure is that it's old, with exceptions. Some of it is under renovation. The walls are preoccupied with political posters which I find very problematic. In some parts of the corridor, smoking is sometimes evident which is a problem not often considered. The living spaces are partly clean, partly not. Cleanliness is definitely an issue in some parts of the campus. The food is good and very hygienic.
I'm studing economics. I'm still in first year so my experience is limited. But from what I've seen so far,the quality of teaching and class regularity is all dependant on the respective teacher. Good teachers teach well, and they are the majority. The curriculum is updated.
Whereas placements aren't at its best, they aren't bad. The average package is around 5-6 lakhs per annum. The highest packages are around 10-13 lakhs per annum. Placements only start after one has completed M. A. The numbers of companies coming for hiring students need to increase.
JU is as close to getting a free college education as one can have. In that sense, it's worth your money even if you don't learn much, but you mostly do. The fees as far as I know is around ₹1200 per semester. That's official, but students hardly pay that.
The campus is mostly clean, partly not. The campus is flooded with canteens, so you never go hungry. People are very friendly and welcoming. There's enough freedom for students, as much as a college campus can provide, sometimes more. Smoking again is a big issue for me. You can smoke anywhere in the campus which I'm in strongly in opposition to. It's a safe campus.
Jadavpur University is one of a kind. Freedom of its students is something it upholds better than most colleges (sometimes more than needed) . The faculty is probably it's strongest asset. The infrastructure is partly old and needs renovation. There's zero ragging. It's a friendly and safe place to carry on your life after school.
Jadavpur University contains all the necessary infrastructure and equipments for students . It has large, spacious and clean classrooms along with labs and smart board, libraries with wide variety of books for the course as well as for out of the box learning . JU has various sports teams headed by the sports board . There are eight hostels for students to accommodate . WiFi is available all over the campus . The infrastructure is well maintained and cleaned with eight canteens in the campus .
I'm pursuing my Bachelor's of Arts in Economics because of the wide scope and requirement in the world . The department has highly qualified professor probably the best in the city with qualifications from renowned universities all over the world . The curriculum is updated by the faculty which concentrate syllabus from various writings and books with projects provided to analyse current scenario in the economy. The course is mostly job oriented with programming learning in Stata and R .
There are not much placements in the department as most of them try to go for further studies in the field . Placements are given only after Masters and not after Bachelor's . The placements given are good and well placed . Details of such placements are not revealed by the authorities
Studying in. Jadavpur University is a 100% value for money or even in any state owned University. The annual fee of the first year is Rs1235 which is mostly nothing compared to the faculty and infrastructure provided . It is probably the cheapest you can ever pay as college fee. If you want to thrive in the field of economics, Jadavpur University is want you need . If you want to pursue your master's or doctorate in foreign or other Indian universities, the tag of JU has gravity in it.
As a fresher, the campus life is amazing with various clubs and societies around like debating ,painting ,music ,dance ,drama ,entrepreneurship, etc . The teachers are easily accessible and are ready to help regarding academic problems . The seniors are really supportive and would help you out any moment . Jadavpur University is a 58 acre campus(main) in the heart of South Kolkata . Though being an open campus , it is safe and can handled emergencies . Police station is just across the street.
My experience as fresher has been amazing . Jadavpur University is like a home to me . Creating more memories and making dreams come true.
Based on the WBJEE 2024 data, scoring 110 or 105 marks would likely place you in the rank range of approximately 10,001 to 15,000, as per the expected marks vs. rank analysis .
For admission to the Information Technology (IT) department at Jadavpur University, the cutoff ranks are quite competitive. In 2024, the closing rank for IT was around 295 for the open category . This suggests that candidates needed to secure a rank within the top 300 to gain admission into the IT program.
Given this information, with a score of 110 or 105, it would be challenging to secure a seat in the IT department at Jadavpur University under the general category. However, cutoff ranks can vary each year based on factors like the number of applicants, exam difficulty, and seat availability.
If you belong to a reserved category, the cutoff ranks might be slightly relaxed, but the competition remains high. It's advisable to aim for a higher score to increase your chances of admission into the IT department.
Hey:)
Thanks for reaching out!
With a WBJEE rank of 22,259 and an SC rank of 1,996 you have a good chance of getting into Jadavpur University if you are a West Bengal domicile. If you are a WB domicile then your SC rank becomes the deciding factor, and based on last year's cutoff, your rank is within the range for branches like ECE, IT, electrical, mechanical, chemical and civil but it is not enough for computer science. If your not a West Bengal domicile, then, only your GMR will be considered and 22,259 is much higher than all India closing ranks. so,admission at Jadavpur is very unlikely.
In short, your admission depends mainly on your domicile status, however, keep some backup options for safety .

Hello
With 445 rank in WBJEE 2025 and being a home state category student, your chances of getting Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (ETCE) is highly likely , Electronics & Instrumentation is also possibl e but Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is unlikely at this rank.
Thank You!!!
