Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT), Kolkata was established in the year 1941 by Professor Sasadhar Ray who was an eminent educationist and the first principal of the college. GCECT Kolkata is a government college situated in  Kolkata, West Bengal. GCECT Kolkata has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). 

GCECT Kolkata is an autonomous institution affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata. Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade institution. The GCECT Kolkata offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech), and doctoral (Ph.D) programmes in various domains. The B.Tech and M.Tech courses in Ceramic Technology and the B.Tech course in Information Technology have already been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The GCECT Kolkata provides placement and career guidance to the students through the placement cell. This scholarship is for differently-abled students who have a disability of not less than 40%.


Candidates must be admitted to diploma/degree courses at an AICTE recognised institution.


The annual income of the family should be less than Rs.8 Lakhs per annum.

AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls

Rs 50,000 per annum

This scholarship is for girl candidates who have taken admission to the diploma/degree course at AICTE approved institution/college.


The annual income of the family should not be more than Rs.8 Lakhs.


Up to two girls per family can apply for the scholarship.

AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme (Technical Degree)

Rs. 50,000 per annum

Candidates should be pursuing a full-time degree-level course


Annual family income should not be more than Rs. 8 lakhs


Should belong to one of the following categories: 

Orphan/either or both parents died due to Covid-19/wards of armed forces and central paramilitary forces

AICTE PG (GATE/GPAT) Scholarship

Rs. 12,400 per month

Candidates who must have a valid mark in GATE/GPAT can apply.

college is having good infrastructure and well facilities provided in the college. classrooms are big and having projectors facilities in the classrooms with internet connection. sports ground is big . canteen is available.

Among the 3 mentioned universities GCETTS do not have that good placement opportunities in comparing to the other two.

GCELT gets good placement opportunities as 80% students get the placement opportunities with highest salary of 7 lakhs PA and also 90% of students get placed with internship opportunities as well.

GCECT is definitely the best with placement opportunities as it gets students placed with top Multi National companies such as Accenture, Wipro, TCS, IBM, etc with highest salary packages of 7-8 lakhs PA
