VIT is more of a kind of college which takes admission in bulk where as RV takes more through merit. Vit takes approximately 1000 students per branch, RV takes probably 150. In RV one would receive much larger attention and certainly have better faculty, trust me I've seen both,

For lateral entry of diploma holders RVCE , the candidate should have minimum 45% mark in the final year of diploma. He has to appear and qualify in the common entrance test KEA-DCET .

When I graduated, the ECE building was falling apart. The library was understocked as well. I see they've made improvements recently so its better now. The Wifi was unreliable and the gym was subpar. The labs were well stocked though. The food used to be good in my first year but declined along the way.
