Hi aspirant,
In order to pursue any BSc degree from JU, candidates need to have passed 10+2 Examination from any recognized board in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and with at least an average of 75% marks in these 3 subjects. Admission is made strictly according to the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination. There is no additional admission test.
Therefore, you need not give WBJEE to pursue a BSc degree, WBJEE is only for engineering aspirants.
Hope this helps.
Hello,
According to your Entrance exam rank and category, it was not possible to get top branch (like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, ECE, CS, IT etc.) in Jadavpur University.
But you chances to get admission in Construction Engineering, Food Technology And Bio Chemical Engineering, Power Engineering/Power Plant Engineering, Production Engineering etc.
Hope this helps
Thank you
Dear aspirant,
The metallurgy branch is not that encouraging in Jadavpur University. The placements there at pretty normal and the average package stays generally around 6L per annum being one of the premier institutes of india.
General non core companies like Capgemini, wipro, airbus comes for placements for these branches. But many of the core companies still don't offer a very good amount of package in this college
However you can choose this college still because the fees is very less and you would be placed at a decent company for sure.
Hello Adi,
Although there is no limit on the number of attempts for WBJEE exam, it is never advisable to drop 4 years for any college, not even the top IITs, rest aside JU. You might not face any problem upfront but it will definitely create disastrous effects during placements and in your future career.
So to answer your question, Yes you can clear JU with proper preparation after dropping 4 years but it is never recommended.
Take your decision wisely and all the best.
Hi
Yes, only West Bengal students are eligible for reserved categories.
This is because,
WBJee counselling pdf clearly mentions that
Other state students are not eligible for government aided colleges in wbjee. West Bengal domicile requirement is there for seat in Government aided colleges, seats in Aliah university and 90 % of general seats for Jadavpur University( 10% seats are open for other state for Jadavpur University) and also other state students are not eligible for reservation i. e OBC/ST/SC etc.
You can check the same on the page number 9 of WB Jee counselling PDF , the link for which is provided value:-
https://wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjeecms/File/GetFile?FileId=57&LangId=P
As per the eligibility criteria of Jadavpur University to be eligible for B tech
You must have passed 10+2 / equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with a minimum of 60% marks or 45% aggregate marks in case if you are from reserved category
You must have passed each subject separately ( including both theory and practical). You must have also got atleast 30% marks in English.

Hi Sayantan,
Jadavpur University being the most sought after institute in West Bengal, the competition is tremendous. Unfortunately with your rank, i.e. 2851 it is extremely difficult to bag a seat in the Information Technology domain in JU even though you belong to OBC category B.
However, you might qualify for other branches in JU with your rank and reservation. Do checkout the cutoff of various branches in JU over the past years by clicking the following link.

Hope this helped.
Hi aspirant, since you have 2200 rank in your WBJEE exam so you can easily take admission in the colleges you have mentioned in the question with the branches you have decided so one thing is important in choosing your college among your prescribed colleges you need to remember first that there are two factors like;
College with your desired branch doesn't matter the which college you opt.
Secondly college according to your finance condition.
So it's on you whether you want to go with your desired branch in any of the college whereever you get seat or you may choose college on behalf of your financial condition.
Thank You.
Dear Aniruddha,
Congratulations on getting chance in Haldia college. In case of Jadavpur university please note that your Gmr is considered while admission, not your tfw ranking.
So as per statistics your Gmr is greater than the closing ranking of Jadavpur university hence you are not eligible. You can check the cut-off details and previous year trends of Jadavpur university in the link below:

To have the best prediction of iit/nit and private or government funded colleges that you are eligible for, you can use our wbjee college predictor in the link below:

All the best for your future!
Hi,
If you have a gap between your 12th grade and your bachelor's admission year, or between your bachelor's and master's degrees, it is required for college admission. It detects the cause of the gap, which is usually: competitive examination preparation, health concerns, dropout etc.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
Hello Aspirant,
Yes definitely you can do so. Suppose you took admission in Jadavpur University using your WBJEE score and later on in September your JEE-Main result will be declared and there if you got good score for which you are sure that they can take you to any of your dream NIT or whatever NIT you want then you can appear for JOSAA counselling and if the satisfying seat is allotted to you then you can withdraw your admission from Jadavpur University and your documents will be returned back but note that some portion of your amount deposited in the college might get deducted as admission charges and some other miscellaneous charges.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck!!
College infrastructure really needs to upgrade. Even though there's wifi, adequate classrooms and all of that, the cleanliness amd the buildings need to do better. There's also a shortage of desks and chairs.
A very liberal space where everyone is free to express themselves without the fear of getting judged. The libraries have adequate books for students of all the classes. The classrooms have enough space to accommodate at least 70 people.
The infrastructure at Jadavpur University is decent overall, with the essential facilities in place for students. Classrooms, laboratories, and libraries are fairly maintained. The canteens offer hygienic and affordable food, making it convenient for students to manage daily meals. However, the condition of bathrooms is rather poor. The Engineering Drawing rooms don't look like they ever get cleaned. Repairs of electrical appliances like fans and lights often take a long time. Concern affecting infrastructure development is the lack of sufficient funding, which has slowed down repairs and modernization efforts. With better financial support, the campus facilities could be significantly improved.
