Hi Aishika
I think they do admit students on the basis of the marks scored in WBJEE rather than that of the jee mains score but during the counselling of the WBJEE they may require jee mains rank and in that case, she does have a good chance but i would advise you to wait till the counselling.
All the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dear somenath chattopadhyay
as based on your rank and category you have chances of getting electrical or mechanical branches as of stream btech programme thank you
Hi Shubhendu
If you think that research is what you what to do in the long run, then go for this,as not only do you get more opportunities for research and choosing which part of the branch you are interested in but also you can directly go for PhD after the completion of the course.
Since there is no exit option at the end of 4 years, and if do not end up liking the branch then the dual degree program can turn out to be a nightmare and waste an extra year.
If you are not sure whether you want to do research in the future, the best option would be to take a single degree(BTech) program in the branch of your choice in any old IIT. If you feel that Mechanical interests you but you cannot commit to research right now,go for BTech Mechanical in IITs where you are getting admission.
Both IEM and Techno India are good private colleges of the city. But if you are going for good academics, IEM is a bit better compared to Techno. I am not being biased but it is my opinion since i have friends who are studying BBA in both the colleges.
Best wishes!
IEM Kolkata takes admission in btech on the basis of the rank secured in wbjee amd not jee mains. You have to appear for wbjee, secure the cutoff rank for the college. Then only you are eligible for taking admission in IEM kolkata.
Best of luck!
As there is nothing out for 2018 cut off and it varies category and branch wise and as per previous year cut off trend the closing rank for Civil was 100707, CS was 101580, EE was 101617.
Also, to check the complete cut off detail, you can go through the below link -

Good Luck!!!
Both the colleges provided good placements but if we compare the placements then Sastra university has better placements.
According, to Careers 360 Sastra University has AAAA+ rating which means outstanding and IEM Kolkata has AAA+ rating which means Good.
Ratings are provided on the basis of placements, faculty, Cut-offs of national / state level Entrance exams, Accreditation and Reward status and Publication record from Elsevier’s indexing database - Scopus.
Good Luck!!
it does have moderately good facilities when compared to other colleges in kolkata (other than JU and IIEST shibpur as they are in a league of their own) but when compared to other top colleges (iem claims to be a top college), it falls short and it falls short by A LOT
One of the best infrastructure maintained with the equipment needed. Faculties are the best in business best in there field all are the rich in experience in there perticular field. Absolute clean and greeney.
It has modern classrooms, good labs, and a central library but limited space and several wifi and network issues. Infrastructure is decent but not so good. But they have ac which is good for this summer.
