You will get some excellent faculties in core branches of this college. You will get ample time to prepare for higher studies exams. Rigorous classes and labs are taken in between 4th to 7th sem in any core branches. Getting above 8.5 cgpa is tough as this college is autonomous which means question papers are set by Professors and checked by them also. Dont opt for it and ece dept of this college right now as condition is bad there though future improvements are very expected. Electrical and mechanical are the best branches of this college. Civil is a very reputated branch here and cse is doing pretty good nowadays.

The college has deteriorated status from before.Faculty members are not so good.Attendance is namesake. There are too many clubs.Students focus less on studies and more on recreational activities.Hostel accommodation for girls are less. The staff members pay less heed to students problems. About placements -not so good.

Batch of 2018 | B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering
The college experiences mass recruitments by TCS every year during the placements. Students are also hired by companies like wipro & erricson. The college campus is a really vast one, with five hostels, numerous playgrounds, gymnasium, and a tea estate behind the college. College life is too much fun with our cultural fest being the largest in North Bengal & 3rd largest in West Bengal.

One of the tops ranked college in the west Bengal. The infrastructure of this college is good. New projects and more development can be done due to the presence of empty space.Faculties are good enough. No doubt they are well experienced.Placement status is not so good for core department.Overall college is good. It is guaranteed that after completing the 4-year course, we will all have a new set of experience.

Batch of 2007 | B.Tech Civil Engineering
Very good infrastructure, laboratory, computer labs, gym, photography club, cultural events - it's a paradise for the 4 years of college life.... The only problem is lacking professors in some departments at our time. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical dept were oldest and renowned departments at that time. Industry exposure is to be improved for more campus placements.

College life was very good but the infrastructure of this college is not so good. Faculty members are not very caring. They did not guide us properly. We had to study from our own or with the help of our department friends. Hostel life was very good. I liked it. We spent our 4 years of hostel life in 3 no.s of hostels.

This college is in Jalpaiguri. The campus is full of greenery and pollution free. The faculties are very good; placements are satisfactory...Labs and workshops are well equipped. There are four boys and one girls hostel. All alums are well settled. The only problem is that the college is situated far from Kolkata...Otherwise this college is highly recommended.

The only thing you will get here is awesome engineering life, lots of Holidays. But when we talk about the faculties there are many on contractual basis who got only upper knowledge of the subject. Few companies are there which visit on regular basis but none of them can be called as DREAM COMPANY!!!!!. In short i can say that get there only if you don't have much options,

A paradise in the name of college

Posted on 11 Jun' 15 by Subham Sarkar
"Campus life at Jgec is something students never forget. College infrastructure is lacking here..not to forget it is one of the oldest colleges in West Bengal. Apart from that, Facilities and Club activities are really very good here..Students get opportunities of attending different workshops.. The annual cultural fest here is the biggest in North Bengal. Also it has a very friendly atmosphere which helps newcomers get comfortable."
