As a student who has recently joined Hidayatullah National Law University, there are several observations that I have made. It is perhaps most prudent at this point, to emphasize that it is not possible for any two students to have the same experience at university, and that the following statements are simply my views. To me, every aspect of the college seems to have its own positives and negatives: Firstly, the infrastructure of the college is quite breathtaking. There are several buildings in the campus, and all of them are centered around the main academic block which is built like the Parliament of India. Other than this, there is a new academic block that has been constructed, a three-story library, the girls hostel (one old + one new), the boys hostel (one old + one new), an open gym (in addition to a girl's gym and a boy's gym), a cafeteria, a football ground, a cricket ground and two basketball courts (although, the girl's basketball court is quite dysfunctional). In addition to this, the campus is quite green. Another benefit is that the college is located in the quiet premises of Naya Raipur which has great roads (google it!) and is a budding smart city. There's a lake attached to the campus, which is a huge plus. The disadvantage to this, however, is the fact that there are not many places of entertainment nearby. A newly constructed cafe (The Marvosa) has been established just outside HNLU with great food and beverages, but other than that, we're pretty much left to pick between the Jungle Safari and a petrol pump for recreation. The college provides transportation to and from the city (2+2) times a day, but this is quite an exhausting trip to make, considering that the campus is located 30 km from the city! (we're expecting a utility center to be constructed in college soon and dhaba deliveries are quite easy to place from within premises itself) Secondly, the student crowd (in my opinion) seems a little negative. Don't let this bog you down once you enter college and do not listen to anyone who tells you to "light le!" instead, if you find the right crowd to fit into and work towards whatever goals you have in mind at that particular time (may it be academics, joining a band or quizzing), I am sure that there are diverse students who have a similar interest as you! Note: Informal debates and jamming sessions take place a few times a month at the lakeside stairs and these are super fun to attend. Again, the negative aspect to this happens when you let the other students tell you how difficult law school is, or if you allow peer pressure to steer you towards drug abuse (most law colleges have this problem). As the college gives you a lot of liberty with the way that you spend your time, at the end of the day, this college is what you make of it. Thirdly, the faculty is quite average (sometimes, even disappointingly sub-par). At least as far as I've heard though, there is no Indian University till date that has managed to escape the plague of bad faculty. The up-side to this is the fact that our library is well stocked and repeatedly updated with the newest books. This makes it super easy to self study. There's a photocopy room at the top floor of the library where you can photocopy pages of the books and other notes for 60 paisa a page. The college also subscribes to various law pages like Manupatra and SCC Online which gives you a vast amount of study material in itself. Note: The seniors at HNLU are some of the most helpful people you will ever meet. As Dumbledore once said- "Help will always be given at Hogwarts- read: HNLU- to those who ask for it." (don't mind me. Not everyone in college is this cheesy!). But seriously, the faculty is of no help when it comes to mooting or paper presentations, but the seniors and even the alumnus are very responsive and will be there for you when you're in a tight spot. (Pro tip: Instead of buying new books, get them for free from your senior friend). Guest lectures are also being organised (more frequently nowadays), so make sure to attend them, because trust me, you can always use a little bit of extra motivation in law school. Finally, coming to the academics itself- the system is based on a credit-grade point average mechanism (so you've got to put in consistent work every semester) and one project from each of the six subjects have to be submitted every semester (for the syllabus, you can look at the official HNLU website, though it is of little use for other things). Although these projects are often halfheartedly done, I've found that if you put effort into this, you can convert this into a research paper for submission easily (two birds, one stone). The marks are given stringently and there continues to be a lack of transparency in the method of correction, but the students are continuously striving to reform this. It is on purpose that I have avoided talking about the mess food in detail. Although I love the taste of the food there, I find the high amount of oil-content in the food to be unhealthy. The way taste is perceived differs from one person to another. Again, dhabas are available nearby, if you're willing to part with your money. Oh, and there is enough scope to party (alcohol included. obviously.) several times over the year. Looking forward to having you there :)

It is the sixth national law university set up in India amongst many others. Locationally, it's far from the business hubs of the country so the placements are mostly based on PPOs that one may get. College life is amazing with good infrastructure. I have done my law degree from this college with a good experience overall.

The only thing good about this university is the fact that the infrastructure and a very proactive student body make a lot more of themselves through pure effort. Most of the faculty are absolutely not qualified to be within a country mile of a classroom, let alone be allowed to teach there. The administration doesn't care about the careers and aspirations of the students. But on the bright side the students are proactive and helpful and most of your knowledge and exposure here comes directly or indirectly from them. Overall a lot more negatives than positives. Especially for a university that is portrayed as being one of the best in their field.

Have Witnessed The Growth Of This Place

When I joined in 2011, I never thought this place will turn out to be what it is today. While I had only negatives to talk about back then; the growth in terms of infrastructure, faculty, student crowd and all the other aspects made me want to stay just a little bit longer when it was time to leave. The hostel life was fun - and the best part was having single rooms (the small, cozy balcony was just an added bonus). The crowd was not only fun, but also very talented - which inculcated a very healthy competitive spirit. The only drawback was the location of the college - which was situated far away from the main city. All in all, it was a memorable experience being a part of this university!

Campus Designed like the parliament, the campus of the law school is really fascinating. Spawning across an area of around 70 acres, it has all major places: Football field, Basketball court, Cricket ground( though a cemented pitch), Gym well-equipped with all sophisticated machines( I ain't a regular gym-goer but can guess), Cafeteria( apart from homosexual mess), Badminton court, IT-Lab and a massive library( which I'll discuss in detail) Library and academics The faculty of the national law school is not that good and can be designated with an "OK" adjective. This puts the entire burden on the student to score marks and excels in academics. Library and free Wi-Fi can compensate for same. HNLU has one of the largest libraries of the country, containing thousands of Law Journals from different parts of the world. Also, subjects like sociology or political science(Major) is less about teachers and more about books and thinking about them. This makes the library more necessary. Hostel Life Hostels are fine with sufficiently spaced rooms and hygienic washrooms( except when there comes the swarm of mosquitoes). You can play loud music or play badminton at night except when the teachers are on rounds( They go back in five minutes :)). The food is good, except for the few dishes they suck at( for example, curry, whose fan I've always been, now shakes me to the deep). Thankfully, there is a shop in the mess itself, where you can buy delicacies( they make tasty sandwiches and noodles), when turn off the food, you hate, comes) Placements It's a national law school. Big firms come here and recruit people. They shortlist the top 10 or top 15 rankers, which makes it important to excel in academics. The placement % is reasonably good despite 50% domicile reservation.

Joined the college a little late but didn't lose anything. The campus is located in extreme outskirts but thanks to the free bus service provided by the college. The classroom environment is quite good and the faculty (almost) and the administration are very cool. We have specialisations in three streams namely Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and Environmental Law. Placements for UG are good but not much appreciable for PG students and the students are working hard for that purpose. It's a nice place to be. Calm and serene.

HNLU less of a college and more of a family

HNLU is less of a college and more of a family, where cultures unite and ideas recreate. Here, there is a unique amalgamation of modern education with an ever changing law. The encouragement from the teachers, the support of the administration makes it so much easier to chase all the dreams a child comes with to a college. It isn't a wonder why HNLU is rapidly climbing up the stairs to become one of the best law colleges one has ever seen.

Hidayatullah national Law University, Raipur is one of the best Law Colleges in the country, offering world class infrastructural facilities like a basketball court, cricket field, football field and gym. The college also has a tennis court and a badminton court. Other infrastructural facilities include a cafeteria and the presence of a bank and two ATM's inside the campus itself. We also have a world-class library and highly qualified teachers. The overall environment is pretty good. All in all its one of the best colleges a law student can be in.

There is a facility of challenges which ensure that anyone with ability can represent the law school in national debates and moots. Moreover, the college has a rich heritage of participating( and winning) at various national and international moot court competition. HNLU is a place that will teach you the reality of life. It won't pamper you like the Ivy League law schools does but it will teach you how to survive and stay real in your actions. Here nothing is given for granted, rather you need to fight and challenge you fellow mates to have it. It will ultimately make you a soldier for life. No matter what the situation be, you will keep fighting and learning out of such experiences.

College- Sometimes you wish it never started, sometimes you wish it never came to an end. I'm penning down the review for HNLU, Raipur, one of the premier law schools in the country. It was established in 2003, a time when there were a handful of colleges dedicated towards legal academics. ~ First and foremost, the college boasts of having one of the best placements in this field. Students who are dedicated towards studies have myriad of opportunities to pursue after graduation. ~ The infrastructure of the college has rapidly undergone a change in the recent years. It consists of a well-equipped library, football & basketball courts, gymnasiums in both hostels and well structured academic blocks. ~ Faculties of the college is a department where the college lags behind a bit since some of them are not much experienced but some are experts in their domain and all teachers are helpful. ~ The hostel facilities are great with good internet connection (LAN) and the best part is individual basis rooms which ensure your privacy, a quality which can't be seen in various good colleges. That's all for now, I hope the review is helpful.

Our college is something which will keep you interested throughout your stay for 5 long years. When I say interested, I mean to say that it will give you both sweet and sour experiences. This college will make you feel phenomenal when it comes to its green and pollution free location and on the other side it will make you feel really confused when it comes to the quality of faculty and capabilities of the administration which generally is into the hands one one or two individual. Overall I see positives for this college in the coming time and wish the right people come in future when it comes to the administration of this college. Wish you all the best.

HNLU has proved its mettle and brought accolades in multifarious fields such as mooting, quizzing, sports, paper presentations, cultural activities etc. All this while, academics has never taken a back seat for its students and HNLUites have always been able to handle their studies pretty efficaciously with their co-curricular activities. Academics is one of the most important spheres of your law school life. Be it internships, placements or just general acquisition of knowledge, a good stand in academics helps you make the best out of it.

My personal experience of college was actually good being a residential university you get to interact with students all over the country and you learn a lot from each and every individual from your batch. Placements in the university are organised by student RCC which depends on the batch. University being Fardeen the city transport facility is provided by the college authorities. So making most of your time at the university by indulging in different activities be it sports, cultural academically , moots develops you as an individual.

My experience with HNLU is very subjective whether it be in the matter of Academics, Faculty, Jobs, Event Managing and Participation, Co-Curricular Activities or for law school life-experiences. HNLU is a place where you can utilize your potential but the only requirement is that you need to stick to it till the end. If you are distracted and not so serious about the thing there is lots of competition. Therefore it can be said that it totally depends on one whether he/she wants to grow and achieve or not.

A good college is not one with a great infrastructure but is great with its overall ambiance. It is better to have something of everything than everything of one thing. No doubt our college may not be the best in every sphere but we do have goodness a taste of sweetness in every field, be it infrastructure, extra-curricular activities, placement, industry exposure, government support in terms of funding for various activities and a strong alumni network throughout the world at great centers of education. Overall a great place for someone who wishes to put in some extra effort and achieve the best out of his true and dedicated efforts.

Further, the college has also improved when it comes in terms of Infrastructure. We have state of the art moot court halls and to further add to it we also have very active mooting and debating societies.

HNLU, a serene beauty situated at the outskirts of a mid-level town i.e. Raipur. The college boast a total area of more than 40 acres and is equipped with separate residential facility for boys and girls. The main building architecture is inspired by Rome's Colosseum and an astounding point for a history buffs. To add to location's scenic beauty, there is a lake situated WITHIN CAMPUS. One might not realize passage of time during evening/early morning strolls much less being mesmerized by its beauty. What is different or rather unique about HNLU amongst all National Law University is its focus on extra and co-circulars. It provides solace to a sports enthusiast as well as to a prospective mooter (Mooting is the most prominent of all co-circulars). From a well maintained football field to Tennis field, if one is into a prominent sport (also have video/P.S game tournaments..if gamers feel left out) s/he will not be sitting ideal that's for sure. A law school must have a well updated library to foster a deliberative and accommodate dynamic nature of law. Hence, to fulfill this objective, the college has two floor library having books on comparatively niche subjects like sports law, nuclear law to authoritative texts. Further, in order to keep up with times, the college spend approx 1.5 crore exclusively on online databases and hard bound books. In-depth researching in the primary skill a lawyer must possess, hence keeping same in mind the college provide plethora of online and offline databases coupled with compulsory researching classes. HNLU has a culture of strong student representation, in furtherance of which, it has a proactive Student Bar Association(SBA) having multiple committees under its aegis, election of which happen yearly. Internships are a critical aspect of on/off campus placement. In this regard, the each and every respective batches have their own Internship Coordination Committee (ICC). What make it HOME? The fact that each resident is provided privacy (single-residential rooms) coupled with hygienic surroundings provides it a touch of homeliness. Also the student life is pretty much 'chilled' as one can undertake trips to outstation destinations (even international ones...COLLEGE FUNDS YOU) as well as can walk to the nearby "Tapri" to get menial things done. As far as food is concerned, having a tendered mess, the quality of food is not up to the mark. But no worries, we have a guy traveling to city and can get you anything from continental cuisine to mouth-watering briyani. Oh wait! did i tell you that the campus is approx 20km from city, again no problem, college bus ply to city thrice in a day at convenient timings Coming to the main question, what about jobs!! Well there is an old saying "if you want something bad enough, fight for it". Hence if you are in top rungs of your batch no one can stop you from getting a job (whatever be the nature). At HNLU the word 'fight' (not literal) possess a great significance, as you are faced with cut-throat competition, with every other student trying to be 'better'. But that's what life is all about, if you know and can fend for yourself no one can stop you from excelling and the earlier you know about the 'principles' of 'fighting' the better (enough with philosophical lecturing). HNLU is not perfect especially in faculty-wise, but it has now realized the importance of same , hence new young faculty is recruited every year. Though we have miles to cover, but we will strive for it. In the end, the whole experience can be compressed to one line, with all its problems and concerns kept aside, 'ye hai HAANLU meri jaan!!' (this is HAANLU, my beloved).

The college owns the basic infrastructure, although it could provide more options with respect to extracurricular space. Guest lectures from prominent fields and more career counselling sessions would be ideal. College life, however, is generally pretty happening. The college should imbibe a model for recruitment cell, which is still lacking. The college hostels meet expectations, the location of the college is however adrift from the city. College professors could get more hands-on knowledge of their subjects, and specializations. Student diversity lacks because of the quota. This affects negatively. It is pretty affordable in terms of value for money.

We have an excellent infrastructure with state of the art moot court halls, all contemporary sports facilities and a very active mooting and debating society. We have great support from the state government when it comes to funding for moot court competitions and conferences as we are provided with 100% funding for these activities which none of the law schools across India provide. We although needs to focus on the quality of faculty and if we could rope in some more experienced Professors then that would be great. Further, the college authorities must be more proactive when it comes to approaching recruiters. We have one of the best hostel facilities across all the NLU's. We are provided with LAN in each and every room with excellent hygienic conditions maintained. We have one of the most affordable fee structures across all the NLU's. We further have a very strong Student Body which takes care of all our necessities. We also have a very strong alumni penetration ranging from best Law Firms to being some of the great names in the field of litigation. We also have great representation in the Ivy League Foreign Law Schools such as Oxford and Harvard Law School. So overall we have great potential to grow provided we have efficient administration at disposal.

Sweet and Salty

Hidayatullah National Law University, situated in Naya Raipur, away from all the noise and din of the city is a very calm place. The infrastructure is impressive, but it's still under works. The college gives the students a lot of opportunities, but only when students keep an eye out. You can sit in your room all day and complain about how bad everything is or you can get out there and start grabbing the opportunities as soon as they come your way. HNLU albeit its humble beginnings does boast of an illustrious alumni. The faculty is ready to help, only if the help is sought. The student crowd is good, it's just that you have to find your kind of people. You will get everything you need, given you know which door to knock. Life in HNLU is a sweet and salty experience, it trains you to deal with new problems every day while throwing you parties to remember every other night!

HNLU is one of the fastest developing National Law University in the country with amazing infrastructure, strong alumni base and a lot of opportunities to strengthen your knowledge in the field of law and as well as your CV. It gives you funds for your moot court competition and paper presentations and conferences. It has good placements with lots of big law firms coming to university with job offers. Also, with Chhattisgarh government's Mantralaya jobs make it HNLU a secure place for future perspectives.

HNLU, A place full of opportunities

Batch of 2019 | BA LLB Hons
With single occupancy rooms from the second year, huge library with access to multiple online databases, IT Lab and an upcoming utility centre, HNLU provides its students a clean and green environment to study as well as encourages all round development by providing playgrounds for various sports. Unlike, most NLUs and other top rank universities, HNLU with the help of State grant provides 100% refund and support to the students for moots, paper publications and conferences, both national and international. As far as the faculty is concerned, in spite of having 4 designated visiting professors, we mostly have young LLM graduates with very less or no experience. We've a very strong student body and various committees to ensure smooth functioning of the college and clubs to handle the cultural and co-curricular activities. For the purpose of internships we get one month break for winter internship and two in case of summers which is more or less sufficient. The Campus placements so far have been fine with 7/10 people getting placed. With supportive and welcoming seniors life here becomes much more comfortable and easy.

The campus is lush 80 acres campus consisting of a boys hostel, a girls hostel and two academic blocks. Also there are canteens, utility centers and grounds for various games, residences for teachers. The infrastructure can do a little better. The college should be provided with more exposure to the corporate world, it is well-acquainted with it but it could do even better. The college life is happening anyway, people are interesting and there is always something to look forward as soon as you step out of the hostel premises. The college receives enough number of firms and we wish to invite even more in the future. The hostel is a good, decent place to be. The college is a good platform to develop the skills necessary for the legal profession.

The college as a whole has a good infrastructure, though it lacks many facilities. It does not have any medical facility or a utility center so a person has to travel 30 kilometers even to buy a single pen. A better alumni base should be formed as there is no single platform where interaction can be held. The most important part of this college is the comfort between the juniors and seniors. There are almost no ragging instances and this makes the college life enjoyable with all the students of the University. However, there are various problems on placement related issues like more importance should be given to the zero-day system and the University should invite more firms for the placement. Although all the facilities are provided in the mess, there is a special need for the night mess for the students. The professors are comparatively younger and do not possess the experience and knowledge which should be expected from a faculty.

HNLU The Average Law School

Batch of 2019 | BA LLB Hons
HNLU is a decent college which offers the students a number of opportunities to grow. The infrastructure is average with spacious hostel rooms for the freshers. There is a cricket field, basketball court, badminton court and a gym (no football field atm). There is a very large library with books ranging from fiction to collections of Justice Hidyatullah. CONS. 1. It's in New Raipur, which is more or less a desert which is being developed. It's disconnected from the city, about 30-35 kilometres away. It's a 30-40 min college bus ride if you want to buy a pen. 2. The faculty is very poor, especially with BA subjects. The law subject teachers are also not that great except a few here and there. 3. The student quality is very poor, mostly due to a reservation on different levels. Out of a batch of 180 odd people, it's just around 60 people who do not have any sort of reservation. There is a 50% Chattisgarh domicile quota. 4. There is this hierarchy which exists among the 1st to 5th years. They have to be respected all the time, not always earned. PROS 1. The college schedule is extremely relaxed with a lot of free time to study and develop yourself. You get to read, study, play etc. Classes are from Mon to Friday (8-1:30) 2. There is a huge library which is a haven for all the students who flock to it when exams are near. 3. Most of the seniors are extremely helpful. They fill in whenever you are in need of anything. 4. Tons of activities organized by different committees. If you take an active part in any of this, it will certainly keep you busy. 5. Alumni, HNLU has a very strong alumni base, who are committed to developing the college. They come every now and then to engage the students.
