About GEC Thrissur
Established in 1957, Government Engineering College Thrissur is a technical education institution in South India. GEC Thrissur campus spans an expansive area of more than 75 acres of land. The college has received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and is affiliated with both the University of Calicut and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Additionally, Government Engineering College Thrissur has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA). GEC courses are in the disciplines of engineering, computer science, planning, architecture, and research. The courses offered by the institute include B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, MCA, M.Planning, and Ph.D.
Admission to the B.Tech programme is granted based on the scores obtained in the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) examination, while admission to the B.Arch programme is based on the scores obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). Admission to the M.Tech programme is granted based on the scores obtained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). GEC Thrissur facilities include a boys’ hostel, a girls’ hostel, an auditorium, a cafeteria, IT infrastructure, a medical clinic, a library, sports, transport, laboratories and others. GEC Thrissur also has a placement cell, which provides placement assistance.

The central library has more than 60,000 books and journals .Besides the central library each department has their own libraries that help the students to access books of a particular domain.The Central Computing Facility(CCF) is a centralized computer center for students and staff.The CCF is equiped with over 200 desktops and 1Gbps NKN Internet connectivity.Co-operative society ,Canteen facilities are also available in the college.Post Office & Bank, Dispensary are also situated in the campus.

Should I opt CET mechanical or GEC Thrissur ECE for BTech?
Dear aspirant,
If you were to take my opinion core engineering placements are good only at selective colleges otherwise most of the colleges give very average placements. The average package stays between 2-3L per annum.
So, I would recommend you to go for gec thrissur ece because it's a non core branch and you will get good placements opportunities in core as well as non core domain. You will have plethora of opportunities in these branch.
