Government Engineering College Thrissur was established in 1957. The foundation of the building was laid down by Honorable Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The campus of GEC Thrissur is spread over an area of more than 75 acres of land. The college is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Government Engineering College Thrissur is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Council of Architecture (COA). The vision of the college is to be a centre of excellence with the mission of providing quality education to transform the students into responsible citizens of the nation. The institute has secured 156th rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking with a overall score of 34.91 out of 100. 

The institute offers courses in the fields of engineering, computer science, planning, architecture and research. Courses offered by the institute are B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, M.C.A., M.Planning and Ph.D. GEC Thrissur accepts scores of KEAM for B.Tech, NATA for B.Arch and GATE for M.Tech programme admission. GEC Thrissur Facilities

Ample facilities are provided by the college. They are boys hostel, girls hostel, library, sports, cafeteria, auditorium, medical clinic, IT infrastructure, transport, laboratories, convenience store, bank, post office, etc. Government Engineering College Thrissur facilities of hotels are available for both boys and girls students. GEC Thrissur Admissions

Admissions at the college are based on the entrance test (B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech). After the declaration of the result of the entrance test, cutoffs are released. In the case of B.Tech, candidates meeting the cutoff have to appear for counselling, whereas, in B.Arch, candidates have to fill the application form and participate in counselling. For Government Engineering College Thrissur admission to B.Tech and M.Tech programmes, candidates are selected on the basis of merit scores of the entrance exam and qualifying exam (B.Tech) and entrance test (M.Tech). Candidates are selected on the basis of merit scores of the qualifying exam for M.C.A. programme admission and written test and /or interview for Ph.D. For GEC Thrissur admission, candidates finally have to submit the documents and pay the fees.

GEC Thrissur Admission Process - M.Tech

• Meet the GEC Thrissur eligibility criteria.

• Appear for GATE and get a valid score.

• In case of insufficient GATE qualified candidates, seats will be filled from among the Keralite candidates based on the percentage of marks up to 6 semesters.

• Candidates with a master’s degree having three years of teaching experience in AICTE approved/NBA accredited departments or colleges or three years of experience in a reputed industry or have a fellowship/scholarship from a government agency are exempted from GATE/UGC-CSIR NET.

GEC Thrissur Cutoff

The cutoff marks are the minimum qualifying marks required by the candidates for admission to the programmes offered by the college. GEC Thrissur cutoffs are released after the declaration of the KEAM results for B.Tech programme admission. The cutoffs are released as closing all India ranks.

GEC Thrissur Scholarships

Merit Cum Means Scholarship, E-GRANTZ Scholarship, Central Sector Scholarship and Snehapoorvam Project are the scholarships offered by the college. To avail the Government Engineering College Thrissur scholarships, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria. The scholarships eligibility criteria are different for different scholarships.

1. Merit Cum Means Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to Muslim/Christian/Sikh/Buddhist/Jain category candidates with annual family income below Rs. 2.5 Lakhs. To avail the scholarship, candidates should have scored a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination.

2. Central Sector Scholarship- This scholarship is for the students not belonging to creamy category, whose annual family income is up to Rs. 6 lakhs. Also, candidates should have scored minimum 80% in the qualifying examination.
