Both of the colleges are excellent for any branch aspirants among Kolkata engineering colleges.
I would suggest you to choose IEM among the two if you are interested in engineering only for your education and placements. In that regard, IEM is ahead of Heritage. IEM is very strict and treats their students almost like school children with their strict timing. if you are even late by a minute you can bid the whole day goodbye.
However, if you want a complete college experience including the fests, heritage will suit you better. They offer good placements too and arrange superb fests to give you a co-curricular opportunity as well.

IEM, Kolkata is a very good college and have a very good placements record. The cutoff for admission in this college goes high . So it is not easy to get admission into this institution. One needs to have a very good rank. Admission also depends on various factors such as category, home state quota, branch selection, etc. So according to previous years cutoff it will be difficult for you to get admission in this college or even if you got a seat then it will be with a lower branch only.

Congratulations for the results. Hope you are doing well. Heritage institute is a very good college and you have a very good rank and with this rank you will easily get admission in heritage college infact you can get a very good branch like CSE and IT very easily so you don't have to worry about it.Now coming to IEM, Kolkata you may face some difficulty in getting good branch you will get admission in it but may not get CSE or IT in it.

As you are not a resident of West Bengal, then it is going to be difficult to get any seat in Institute of Engineering and Management. Most probably, According to previous year analysis, the closing rank of IEM is around 2500-3000. Maximum 3500 after round 3. So it is difficult for you to get any seat there.
But you have slim chances to get into Heritage Institute of Technology, sometimes closing rank in HIT ranges between 7000-7300.
Otherwise there are many well known private colleges that provide quality education and placements. For example, Techno India college of technology, Techno India Main Campus, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Netaji Subhas Engineering College etc.
But you have slim chances to get into Heritage Institute of Technology, sometimes closing rank in HIT ranges between 7000-7300.
Otherwise there are many well known private colleges that provide quality education and placements. For example, Techno India college of technology, Techno India Main Campus, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Netaji Subhas Engineering College etc.
As you are not a resident of West Bengal, then it is going to be difficult to get any seats in Institute of Engineering and Management. Most probably, the closing rank in IEM is around 2500-3000. Maximum 3500 after round 3. So there is less chances to get any seat at this rank unlesa you belongs to any reservation category.
But you have a slim chance to get into Heritage Institute of Technology. Otherwise, there are another renowned private colleges like Techno India main campus, Techno India College of Technology etc.

College Infrastructure
it does have moderately good facilities when compared to other colleges in kolkata (other than JU and IIEST shibpur as they are in a league of their own) but when compared to other top colleges (iem claims to be a top college), it falls short and it falls short by A LOT
My college is best in all Courses.
College Infrastructure
One of the best infrastructure maintained with the equipment needed. Faculties are the best in business best in there field all are the rich in experience in there perticular field. Absolute clean and greeney.
its a good college to study and placements.

It has modern classrooms,good labs, and a central library but limited space and several wifi and network issues. Infrastructure is decent but not so good. But they have ac which is good for this summer.
