IHM Kolkata Admission Process
The IHM Kolkata provides admission to the Diploma, B.Sc, and M.Sc courses in subjects related to Hotel Management and Administration. IHM Kolkata UG admissions to the B.Sc course will be granted based on a national-level hotel management entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Aspirants applying for IHM Kolkata admissions must fulfill the eligibility criteria of IHM Kolkata as per their guidelines.
Admissions to IHM Kolkata programmes are granted based on merit and marks scored in NCHM JEE. The academic intensity is serious and this course is far from an easy path and requires continuous, focused dedication from the first day to the last. Most of our professors have real, deep-rooted industry background, which makes the often heavy theoretical concepts instantly applicable in a professional context. The syllabus foundation is superb, though it occasionally misses some ultra-modern global trends, and so I have to do independent research to stay competitive. The second-year practical modules are particularly valuable, truly cementing the foundational skills needed for my upcoming industrial internship placement.
College Infra
For me the primary building structure feels old-school, carrying a dated look that sometimes impacts the general student areas and aesthetics. Crucially, though, the specialized facilities where our core learning happens are excellent and well-maintained. The production kitchens, bakery, and demonstration labs are fully equipped with professional-grade tools for highly effective practical training. I feel that the standard lecture halls are very basic and could use a significant contemporary update to enhance the environment for longer classes. Connectivity is reliable which helps with project work.
Campus Life
The physical campus itself is very small and does not feature vast sports fields or large communal green areas for students to lounge or play in. However, the compact environment unintentionally forces strong, instant social interaction and very quick bonding between students from various academic levels. Being centrally located in Kolkata is a massive, life-altering advantage, allowing incredible access to the city's amazing food, cultural hub, and endless entertainment. The student council does an admirable job organizing smaller, engaging internal events and cultural activities to ensure that all students have opportunities to participate and have fun. Hostel life, while governed by strict rules, creates a tight-knit network of friendships essential for navigating the academic workload and challenges.
Placements
The college's placement legacy is a critical factor for me, and it definitely delivers on its reputation. Even now, the final-year students are overwhelmed with interview slots and pre-placement offers from major five-star international and domestic brands recruiting directly from here. The industrial training for our batch was smoothly orchestrated by the placement team, ensuring everyone secured a valuable, structured experience in an operational setting.
Value For Money
Honestly, this is the winning aspect for me as attending this institute feels like hitting the educational jackpot. I am getting premier, government-subsidized education that usually costs a fortune at any other top hospitality college in the world. The minimal yearly fee means I am not saddled with a crushing student loan before I even begin my first job, unlike my friends in private institution.

Academics
Our college always focuses on academics and as far I remember it was India's no. 1 college in terms of academics on the year 2019-20 as per NCHMCT our affiliated board.
And as it is a subject where you need hands on training, our college was well equipped with all the necessary facilities like kitchen, demo front office, demo hotel rooms and banquet.
College Infra
The college infrastructure was according to me at its best. It had all essential facilities. The college has a attached hostel with a playground and basketball court, where we could also play volleyball and badminton.
It has a big library, a canteen, and classrooms were equipped with smart projectors but the classrooms lacked AC.
Campus Life
You will absolutely enjoy the campus life, firstly we had a strict rule against ragging so our seniors were mostly nice to us. And every now and then we had some or the other events going on where we could participate like singing, dancing, cooking competitions, quizzes. We could also sit on our canteen and spend our free time. For smokers the college also allocated a seperate smoking room.
Placements
Our college offers a 100% placement.
If you need a job you will surely get it perhaps it might not be the desired salary.
The average package was like 20k-25k CTC per month and highest as far I remember was like 35k/month CTC.
Very good hotels and retails comes here like Reliance, Starbucks, Myntra, Taj, ITC, Oberoi, Aditya Birla, etc
Value For Money
I think the fee is on the greater side, I had to spend 4 lakhs for 3 years which I felt to costly, It could have been around 2.5 lakhs to be worthy.

Academics
All lecturers are too supportive and helpful nature. Good library and practicals center, Kitchen,restaurant all are good setup. In whole 3 years all of cuisine are study and all types services are study. All types of beverage are studying.
College Infra
College infrastructure is best and fully slience and green environment for study and leaving also. For student AC in all classroom and library. Total 6 big kitchen in college for practical. Two restaurant and four good room like five star hotel room for practical in food and beverage service and housekeeping.
Campus Life
Campus life is one of the best life on whole college file

100%placement. All over India good five stars hotels are coming for placement and corporate sector, retail sector, and food retail also all companies are coming for placement and 100% placement all students are placed in job for any companies.
