Bachelor of technology Mechanical Engineering in National Institute of Technology Calicut is a good experience as we had exposure to labs which had inteernational machines like some from NASA and ISRo
Average package for National institute of Technology, Calicut , Mechanical Engineering is around 6 Lakhs per annum for our year but our Juniors got around 9 Lakhsper annum.Placements are Good for the fees we paid
Overall its a Value for money for the fees we spent around 7lakhs for 4 years including mess and hostel. The average package is near to it so its worth to spend money on National institute of technology,Calicut
Campus life is excellent as we were at the center of the city, with multiple attractions allover. we had campus fests, industrial exposure, peer learning and committes which make life in National Institute ofTechnology a good place
I recommend it
NIT Calicut has top-notch infrastructure. The campus has impressive buildings, modern labs, sports areas, and cafeterias. The computer centers meet our tech needs, and the libraries have a good collection of books. Though some areas lack maintenance, it doesn't affect much. The transport options make it easy to get around. As a 4th year student, I can say NIT Calicut's infrastructure is excellent for our academic and social needs.
As a 4th year B.Tech Biotechnology student at NIT Calicut, I would say the academics here are impressive. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, providing quality education. The curriculum is well-structured, covering both theoretical concepts and practical applications. There's a possibility of updating the curriculum. However occasional inconsistencies in course delivery and limited elective choices can be improved. Overall, NIT Calicut's academic environment.batc.However
As a 4th year B.Tech Biotechnology student at NIT Calicut, I must admit that placements in the core sector for biotechnology students are quite limited. While the overall placement scenario at NIT Calicut is decent, the opportunities specifically tailored for biotechnology students are scarce. However, the placement cell is proactive in organizing training programs and inviting companies from related fields, increasing our chances of securing on-campus placements.
NIT Calicut offers good value for money. With an annual fee of 1.3 lakhs, the institute provides quality education, experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratories, and a vibrant campus life. Moreover, the availability of fee waivers for deserving students further enhances the affordability. NIT Calicut's reputation and alumni network also contribute to potential job prospects and overall return on investment. Considering these factors, I find NIT Calicut to be a worthwhile investment.
Student life at NIT Calicut is vibrant and fulfilling. The campus offers a perfect blend of academic and extracurricular activities. There are numerous student clubs, events, and sports facilities that keep us engaged and help build a strong sense of community. The diversity of students from different backgrounds fosters cultural exchange and learning. Hostel life is enjoyable, with supportive wardens and a friendly atmosphere. Overall, NIT Calicut provides enriching and memorable student life.

Course fee was around Rs 52000 per year during 2013. Ofcourse it is value for money and in fact much more than that.
Campus is located in a very good area. NITC arrange one of the best cultural fest among the colleges in South India.
Our college has a good fracture. The labs are well equipped. We have a GYM, swimming pool, auditorium, and other sports facilities for outdoor games like basketball, football, etc. Our college has a cricket ground where Ranji trophy was played.
I am currently pursuing civil engineering. The faculties are experienced and have good knowledge about the subject. During the pandemic, all the classes, Labs, and workshops are held online through the Webex platform.
NIT Calicut has a good placement record. The highest placement is around 49 lakhs per annum and the average placement is around 12 lakh per annum. Usually, the placement in the civil department is comparatively low compares to other branches like computer and electrical.
As it's online classes due to carona I didn't get to visit the campus but from what I know the campus has all the necessary basic things we need and they also built a new mega hostel for accommodating students more freely.
I'm studying in nit Calicut CSE 1st year .The quality of teaching is pretty good. And the curriculum is well updated and includes all the recent developments in the field and yes it does make us study what makes us job ready .
The quality of the placements at our college is actually pretty good, almost all the students in CSE and ECE are all placed and all other other branches are placed in good percentage. From 2019 the highest package is 60lakhs in CSE.And the average for CSE is 15lakhs .And the college helps a good amount and it's supportive to us.
As for now it's online any college can't be worth the money actually.
Again it's online for us all we didn't go there I can't say it in my own words but from what I heard the campus climate is very green and fresh.
That's pretty much it.
Our college have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment that are needed for every student. Every class has projector, blackboard, smart board, wifi connection. Library, sport centers and hostels are very well equipped with the facilities. All are well used and we'll maintained. The living spaces are clean and tidy. The food is also hygenic.

Our curriculum is updated and includes the recent developments in the field. The quality of our education makes me always ready for the job.
Our college placements are highly good. 60% of the students are placed. The highest package offered was 49.75 LPA to the student from CSE department. The average salary package was 11.58 LPA. Our college is very supportive for students and is preparing us for the next placement processes.
The course cost depends on our Income. It depends on the income of our parents. I feel that our money is gaining it's worth as per our academics and teachers.
Our campus life is very good and we can healthily make relationships. Our college is located at heavily raining area. Still it is on a hill, so it can handle all the emergencies. Our college is a safer place. Teachers and staff are very supportive for everything.

When it comes to placements and all, the placement percentage in computer science and engineering is 100%.The placement training center is very helpful to students regarding the placements and the highest package is around 50 lakhs and the average package is around 18-20 lakhs
The cost per year would be around 2-2.5 lakhs without any tution fee included in them. The facilities we get here are amazing with proper infrastructure and good environment is mantained in college campus for other state students also
Students here come all around the country and we have foreign students also in our campus . This helps everyone to build his interactions and communication with students who are from different cultures and traditions
Hello Mr. Bini,
Considering your son's rank in JEE Main (3715 in General category, Maharashtra), here below is the categorization that might help you narrow down the options:
CSE in NIT Calicut (or Other NITs):
ECE in IIIT Hyderabad:
ECE in NIT Warangal/Surathkal/Trichy/Rourkela:
If the emphasis is on core tech roles and software engineering, get him a place in CSE at a top NIT (ideally Trichy, Warangal, or Surathkal). If there is a willingness to accept a comprehensive, research-based academic program, with future scope in core tech, AI or higher studies, then ECE at IIIT Hyderabad could be the best long term option. Do not opt for lower-tier NITs if you can get him into one of these higher tier institutes.
With an OBC-NCL rank of 22,373 , getting admission to NIT Calicut is unlikely , as the closing ranks for most branches in previous years were much lower.
For example:
CSE : ~2,846
ECE : ~3,551
Consider exploring other NITs or use the Careers360 JEE Main College Predictor for a better estimate. Let me know your home state for more specific guidance.
It's difficult to say definitively whether a 94.4148 percentile in JEE Main, with home state, OBC, and female quota, will guarantee a BTech Physics seat at NIT Calicut. While a 94 percentile is a good score, it's not a guarantee of admission to a specific program at a specific NIT.
The final cutoff ranks and percentiles for NIT Calicut vary from year to year and are influenced by factors like the overall JEE Main performance, the number of applicants, and the number of seats available.
Your percentile needs to be converted to a rank, which is what is used for seat allotment during the JoSAA counselling process.
Home state quotas can significantly impact your chances, as seats are reserved for students from the state where the NIT is located.
These quotas further influence seat allocation, and the impact on a program like BTech Physics will depend on the specific number of reserved seats and the overall demand for that program.
I suggest you to use JEE predictor tool which will help you to know your chances in nit Calicut .
