    College Infrastructure

The college had a big name already and it lived by it. It provided a campus considering the comfort of the students incorporating all the necessary facilities like the labs for the science and libraries.

    Nitk college review

    College Infrastructure

Could be better. Hostels are old. Cleanliness could be improved. People are nice. Staff is decent. They try to do their best but they struggle to accomplish the same. No hot water. Lot of bee hives and I've been bit multiple times. Food is nice.

    College Infrastructure

The course is divided into six trimesters , with three trimesters in each year . The evaluation is based on two components : 50 marks for internal components comprising assignments and presentations , and 50 marks for the end of the semester exam .

Have a question related to NIT Surathkal (NITK) ?

    Let's break down your options:

    Current Situation

    - You've scored 98.67 in JEE Mains 2025, which might not be enough to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.

    - However, you're likely to get a seat in NIT Surathkal for EEE or ECE.

Option 1: Pursue B.Tech in NIT Surathkal

    - Pros:

    - You'll get a good undergraduate degree from a reputable institution.

    - You can focus on academics, research, and extracurricular activities.

    - Cons:

    - You might feel that you're not in your dream college (IIT Bombay).

Option 2: Take a Drop Year for JEE Advanced 2026

    - Pros:

    - You might improve your score and secure a seat in IIT Bombay for B.Tech.

    - IIT Bombay is a prestigious institution with excellent resources and opportunities.

    - Cons:

    - There's no guarantee that you'll improve your score or get into IIT Bombay.

    - You'll have to prepare for another intense exam season.

Option 3: Pursue M.Tech from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology)

    - Pros:

    - MIT offers a good M.Tech program with various specializations.

    - You can gain expertise in your chosen field and enhance your career prospects.

    - Cons:

    - You'll need to complete your B.Tech before applying for M.Tech.

    - You might need to take entrance exams like GATE or MET.

    Considerations

    - Your interests and priorities: Are you more interested in pursuing a B.Tech from IIT Bombay or an M.Tech from MIT?

    - Your academic and career goals: Will a B.Tech from NIT Surathkal or an M.Tech from MIT align better with your goals?

    - The risks and benefits of taking a drop year: Are you prepared to take the risk of not improving your score or getting into IIT Bombay?

Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances, priorities, and goals.

Iam a dropper student who has scored 98+%ile in jee mains ...If i wish to join NITK through home state quota in lower branch and reppearfor jee mains 2026, can i get admission into same NITK in better branch if my score is good enough? I've asked this because some NITians say you cant join same NIT

Yes, it is possible to gain admission to the same NITK in a better branch if you score well on JEE Main 2026, even if you have previously been admitted to the same NITK through a lower branch via home state quota. Your past admission does not preclude you from reapplying and securing a better branch if your JEE Main 2026 score is competitive.

    Explanation:

    JEE Main's Admission Process:

JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam used for admission to NITs and other participating institutions.

    Home State Quota:

Home state quota allows students to get preferential admission in NITs based on their state of origin.

    No Restriction on Re-admission:

While a student might have been admitted to a specific branch and NIT initially, there is no rule preventing them from reapplying for the same NIT and potentially securing a better branch based on their performance in a subsequent JEE Main exam.

    Score-Based Admission:

Admission to NITs is primarily determined by your JEE Main score and your overall rank compared to other candidates.

    Higher Score, Better Branch:

A higher JEE Main score will increase your chances of getting into your preferred branch, even within the same NITK.

    Considerations:

Rank: Even with home state quota, the overall rank and category-wise cutoffs within NITK play a crucial role in determining which branch you are offered.

Branch Preferences: During the counselling process, you will have the opportunity to express your branch preferences, and the higher your score, the better your chances of getting your top choices.

Cutoffs: Understand the cutoffs for different branches and categories in NITK for previous years to get a better understanding of the competition.

In summary: You can absolutely try for a better branch at NITK by taking JEE Main 2026. Your current admission does not prevent you from reapplying and getting a better branch based on your score.

so an sc PWD category student is getting 89.1226810 percentile will he get nit surathkal cse branch ir which nit will he get? so for nit surathkal cse branch what will be the best percentile for sc PWD category student

With a percentile of 89.12 in the SC-PwD category , your estimated category rank may not be sufficient for CSE at NIT Surathkal , where the closing SC-PwD rank is usually around 100–120 .

To improve your chances for CSE at Surathkal , a percentile above 98 is generally safer. PWD category student (https://gurus.rediff.com/question/qdtl/career/admission-nit-89-1226810-percentile-jee-mains-2025-sc-pwd/5194967)

However, you may get CSE or related branches in other NITs where the cutoffs are relatively higher. It's best to apply to multiple NITs through JoSAA counselling and list preferences wisely.
