I think it has all the necessary infrastructure , facilities and equipment. Classroom has all the facilities as good WiFi, projector, mic, good speaker. These are available for use and well maintained. Living spaces are also clean . Food hygiene sometimes has some issues .
I am in chemical department. Honestly there is no reason to choose it just due to my rank. The quality of teaching is ok , not that great, but some prof are really good. Yeah curriculum is updated and has include all recent developments.
In India, I think it has one of the best quality of placement. Around 85% students are placed. In chemical department, the highest salary package goes upto 32lpa . Average salary offered is around 12lpa. College is very supportive in the placement process.
IITM has all the necessary infra that a student might need. We have spacious classrooms with mutiple blackboards, 24x7 WiFi, projectors and speakers. We have a plethora of labs for various uses. We have an air conditioned library which runs for 15hrs a day.
The acads are pretty good when compared to other colleges although i must say that a lot of profs are more interested in their research rather than teaching. But their are a few profs who are legends in their teaching efficacy
Around 80% of the students get placed here. The placement team works very hard and is very supportive to keep the process smooth for every stakeholder. The average salary is around 12 LPA CTC in MM dept.
Being a centrally funded institute we get a lot of benefits at a subsidized rate. This is much more than value of money. The course cost per year is about 4.5 lakhs including hostel and mess fees. This is approx half of what you would be paying in private colleges
The college campus as a whole is pretty nice and encouraging. It has its share of pros and cons but overall you'll love the freedom, lush greenery, wildlife (monkeys sometimes are a pain but you learn to live with them), etc
The campus is next to Guindy national park. It is in flora and the fauna mostly consists of deers and dogs. Many sporting activities are there. The city is near to campus. The campus has few old buildings but they are equipped with all facilities. New buildings have first class facilities. There are facilities for a lot of research.
Finest in the country. The academics are slightly tough but it's worth it. There is a lot of focus on courses. Attendance is slightly strict. One has to maintain 85%. But the quality is the best one can get.
Best placements. Obviously same as other IITs. A lot offers are made from top companies. 900 -1000 people get placed every year. Jobs are mostly in computer science domain. A lot of core companies do come for placements.
The government gives a lot of subsidies. The fee has been hiked compared to the previous fee. But compared to other private colleges or universities, it is the best.
There are lot of activities to do in the campus. Sports, music, dance, coding, start-ups and a lot. You are literally living in a forest. The cycle ride in the campus is awesome.
Hello,
Yes, If you work hard and study regularly, you can definitely crack JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
IIT Madras is tough, but many students from state boards have made it with good preparation. Focus on understanding concepts well, practice lots of questions, and solve previous years’ papers.
Also, try to join a good coaching or online classes if possible. Believe in yourself and stay consistent. You have a good chance!
Hope it helps !
With a preparatory rank of 3935, your chances of getting a seat at IIT Madras are unlikely. While a preparatory rank can sometimes lead to admission in less competitive IITs or specific courses, 3935 is a high rank within the preparatory category, and IIT Madras is one of the most sought-after IITs.
Preparatory Courses:
IITs offer preparatory courses for SC, ST, and PwD students who didn't qualify for regular IIT programs but have a qualifying rank in JEE Advanced.
Limited Seats:
The number of seats in preparatory courses is limited, and the competition for these seats can be high, especially for the most prestigious IITs.
Rank Significance:
A rank of 3935 within the preparatory category means you're among the lower-ranked candidates within that group, and IIT Madras is highly selective even within the preparatory program.
Factors Influencing Admission:
Besides rank, other factors like category, branch preferences, and the specific IIT's admission policies can influence seat allocation.
Alternative Options:
If you don't get a seat at IIT Madras, explore other IITs with more lenient admission criteria or consider NITs or other engineering colleges where you might have better chances.
Hello Aspirant,
If you get admitted into the B.S. program at IIT Madras this year and this year happens to be your first JEE Advanced attempt, then yes, you will remain eligible to take JEE Advanced again next year if you satisfy the other eligibility norms laid down by the conducting authorities of the exam. The important thing is that the candidate gets two chances at JEE Advanced at the most, and these chances have to come within two successive years from the year when they first appeared for the test. Since you are trying for the first time, you have one chance remaining for the next year.
But once you are admitted into an IIT undergraduate course, you cannot sit for JEE Advanced again to get into the same course. But if you are interested in a different course or a double degree (such as B.Tech + M.Tech), you may want to look up the particular rules from the JEE Advanced official website or the IITs.
