You have to be on your own here, don't expect anything from the teachers. Students from branches other than cse can only hope for cracking the gate somehow and go for higher education. The student crowd here is not very good, the seniors are no better than us. Make your connections with other students if you want to achieve something.

It's a central university with average infrastructure. Students come here from different states of India. It offers major preferred degrees and diploma in various fields including science and engineering. With low teaching experience professors from different states come here to teach and increase government's expenditures.

Good btech opportunity at less fees. Limited hostel seats is very disappointing. Faculty is hopeless. Taught me to be independent. Mechanical engineers will learn everything in air, no lab. CSE engineers will learn everything from internet.our college infrastructure is not better. Teachers are not well experienced. They are not having quite attention towards students.

The central library in the college was eye catching. But hostel allotment is not satisfactory and the campus placements are very poor. But there will be so much free time to enjoy college life or for preparation of some competitive exams. The student council is one of the added advantage for the university.

our college dont have placement opportunity no industry exposure . Our adminstration system dont work in proper manner. Here knowledge is not important only attedence is necessary. This college was established in 1983 as state govt university but after upgrading to central university in 2009 ,it should not developed as per scenario of central university.no placement here. 75% attendence is big issue for students.class should be commence regularly. But lab facilities are only as formality.no hostel facilities for all the students.

The college has a lucrative campus only in terms of area occupied.the infrastructure is developed only on small area. Crisis of faculty and resource. Looks there is no use of area. If you expect placement you will get zero. Everybody comes here by expecting central universities like jmi , or du but it is nothing. Here only fee is less but taking admission here is not worthy.try to get other college.

It is the place for excellence of course but without opportunities. In the view of exposure to Current trends, it's zero. It is not the place for Best lab equipments and highly trained lab assistants. A Student is given lot of free time to explore about anything he/she needs. If one's need is good then they will grow up otherwise it's all known for all. Overall it's worth for a Good student.

Guru ghasidas university is a central university so it has its own uniqueness in everything. It has a large campus and good infrastructure full of greenery around. Academic level is also good. Along with academics our university also focuses on sports and other co-curriculars. Faculties here are very knowledgeable but they lack teachership qualities. My department that is the biotech dept is very good can be considered the best dept of the university because it has good faculty, all technical and equipmental requirements and is well maintained. It gives hostel facility, health centre facility, bus etc. Canteen is not well developed. The administration is slow as there are lesser number of employees than required. Not much of college life can be enjoyed because of lengthy and hectic schedule but is manageable. Overall it is a good life here. A good university at a small place.

The worst decision of my life

Posted on 09 Sep' 16 by Nivedita Debnath
Batch of 2016 | B.Tech Computer Science Engineering
The college has very primitive infrastructure. Mechanical engineering students had to do certain practical classes in other private colleges. No proper lab facilities. The administrative department was as inflexible as possible. No placements at all. The college canteen was like a cycle stand. Though this has improved now. Teachers were knowledgeable, but not very friendly. The diversity among students is pretty good and perhaps the only good part of the entire college life. Now coming to the worst part of the college, "The girl's hostel". It's just an alias name for central jail. We didn't even have the permission to go out of the campus ever. How can one imagine to tame the age group 18-22 ?? The matrons would always keep an eye on where we were going , and if found out of the university gate , parents were called or they would make us write apology letters. There are no girls in the hostel who haven't cried for these silly rules. Please save our forthcoming juniors!! The semester fees were very less, affordable to all.

The college life in GGV is fun and filled with great learning experiences. In my time at the university, I got to work with several dynamic and talented people. I learned a lot from them. There are several opportunities to grow as a professional, whether it's on an academic front or in co-curricular activities. As a student, I worked in the university magazine UDAAN, which has grown leaps and bounds and is a great platform for students to showcase their talents. I also worked with Tarang, the official university musical band, and Urchins theatre group. The university is always full of life and gives a launchpad to everyone's dreams.

Being a central university in the state of Chhattisgarh, where you could count engineering colleges on your hand, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya serves a pivotal role in the field of higher education in this state. You get a fairly knowledgeable and experienced faculty at a fee as low as (almost) Rs.20000 per annum, which is quite low if compared to other colleges, even government colleges. But the truth be told, it is, at the end of the day, one of the last ranking central universities. So, one can fairly say that those students who make a good career from this university are really of high potential, and they would perform so well under better conditions/environment such as an urban setting with rich facilities.

It Wouldn't Be A College If It Didn't Give You Dark Circles

If you could design your ideal college from scratch, what would it look like? Mine would look something like the following. Students would acquire training that makes them immediately employable. They’d take courses in the liberal arts that would sharpen their skills in writing, analysis, and reasoning. And they’d graduate with some real-life knowledge, such as how to interview for a job. There’d be no tenure for faculty, but instructors would be made to feel they’re valued members of the enterprise. While you’re busy designing your version of the ideal, here I am in Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. It is a Central University of India, located in Bilaspur C.G. State. It has 9 schools and 32 departments within the campus. Of all the important factors I mentioned about an ideal college, mine definitely has exposure for real-life knowledge and field work experience. Administrators have a proper interaction with the students to mediate their grievances. What it lacks is Training and industry collaboration because of which students have serious placement-related concerns. I really think the college should also inculcate more room for liberal arts to acquaint students with culture and society. The natural beauty and environment of the university is striking. The ponds (3 of them) are rescue to all the hectic schedule that bomb us because of mandatory 85% attendance rule. The academic work, especially for the School of Law, is too much to deal with in 24hours. But whatever hard work and struggle it has been in past 4 years I am sure I have learnt a lot. I have grown up into a person who is greedy for knowledge and wants to be educated more and more. Hadn’t it been for this college I might not have been like this. I am glad I will be a graduate from this college soon.

Life in Life

Past years have been a discreet blend of emotions and experiences. You cannot just study or pursue a course in G.G.V, you'll have to live a life here. This life is no matter what, about giving, taking and sharing. You give your best, take the most desirable and share what you cannot just keep onto yourself or just let go. My university is not at the core of the town and my state is not an absolute hub for education; this makes me attend my classes with not so sophisticated, not so bright light people but they all are eventually good at heart. One is sure to establish relations with people here. The campus is very spacious and has plenty of room to move around freely or carry out co-curricular activities and sports. Albeit, we have a few problems due to lack of classrooms sometimes. However, we never had to sit under a tree to take lessons. The faculties are good- always keen on maintaining the temper of the class and putting all effort to produce best quality and understanding in us- to a great extent. The value of the course appears to be high, even though we are the first batch to pass-out from this course of our university, many are expecting good jobs and a future with an inclining graph. The fees for the course, relatively, is pretty low. I haven't been a resident of the hostel, though, but the experience which I usually receive from my mates who belong to that gigantic building is not bad. They are not sick of that place, in fact, many of them have been dwelling in there now for more than 3 years. The canteen is affordable, hygienic, accessible, regular and tidy but over-occupied, with unwell maintained premises and with a limited variety of snacks. University offers various activities inclusive of competitions, stage shows, sports, academic activities. However, three major events of our university are Tech fest, Art fest, and Youth Parliament which are organised by the best of the best and are participated in by more than 70% of the students. An yearly inter-faculty sports week is also organised by the department of physical education comprising of more than 40 competitions, winners of which are duly awarded prizes and certificates. To sum up, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya as an institute of education is a portal for a multi-directional growth of personality, with its own pros and cons, and unceasing opportunities for learning. It's all good for any student who wants a memorable college life.

GGU is situated bit far away from the city with the lush green surrounding. But bus facility is not good. The buildings are situated quite far away from each other and the greenery makes it beautiful. Infrastructure is not planned lots of space is wasted. Lesser number of classrooms. The education system is good there are number of qualified teachers. In-campus hostel facility. Canteen needs improvement both infrastructural and hygiene wise. But the life in college makes the person forget all the flaws. A very good cultural ground in available for all kinds of kinds. There is well-facilitated sports arrangement. There is a student-run magazine, theatre group, singing band and dance group. In short, life is good here as the atmosphere is very friendly. Seniors treat their juniors like a friend and teach how to survive and be happy.

After NIT's, this college can be a good choice as per my experience. I'm Mentioning Some Good & Bad points about this college as per my knowing: 1)This college is 18yr old college which was converted to a central Gov college in 2009 so better option to join this college than a pvt College 2)Very affordable fee structure : Tuition fee 20000/yr Hostel fee 27250( for 1st yr) which is less than NIT's, IIIT's and almost every Pvt CLG & Some other state Gov College. 3) Zero Ragging. also, Seniors are very much co-operative 4)Regarding Placement : In 2013, only a few students were placed in some companies(Not any well known ) for 15-20k ..... But many of the students performed well in Gate exam & got jobs in off Campus placement. In 2014-15 Many students were placed from CSE, IT, and some students from ECE branch who got the package of 4.5-7 lacs /annum In 2016, till today 3 students were pre-placed and got a package of 9lacs/annum, Mech students were also placed this year. & Placement is going on. So, in precise , Placement is not as NIT's and some of State gov College .... But it is extending year by year.
