Hostel life is fun when it comes to friendship other than that the basic problems of food, water, electricity are common. No placement, less faculty member makes it more difficult for them to balance the classes smoothly. No much moot court practice sessions. But any course in the University is affordable enough. University scholarships not available. Communication is a big issue from University to town. Many departments lack canteens and libraries. Books are available in less number which makes it difficult for students who rely on libraries for studying different authors for different subjects.

Politics leads the department. These two years were the most exploited and depressed period of my life. The department left me under-confident, insulted and wondering everywhere for placement. Worst experience ever. Will never recommend anyone ever in my life. The department should be closed forever.

M. Tech course in this university is cheap compared to other universities. This is the only plus point I found. Infrastructure - poor Hostel food - worst ever Industry exposure - zero Faculty - most male faculties smoke in the cabin, uses offensive words in the classroom, you have to be their pets to get marks, knowledge and your efforts don't count, they take viva to Insult you and not to check your knowledge, you have no right to stand for the right. Female faculties are so dumb that you won't even like to face them. At the same time, some good teachers also exist but it's useless when you have six - seven subjects including your practicals, and you get impartial marks in only one or two subjects, the rest gets affected anyway. Placement - zero placement of this batch through university. You have to work hard yourself after the degree to get placed. Moreover, only students who are pets of their guides will get the news of some company visiting, if they visit.

There are so many opportunities lined up for everyone. So many activities like Seminars on Educational topics as well as General awareness. Then there are students from all over the world participating with you. Which makes it a wholesome new experience. There are enough societies, clubs to engage in rather than the isolated places

It has been almost 2 years here.. Assam University is a very disciplined, well cultured, and clean university..where along with studies, sports and other cultural activities are also entertained.. Hostel accommodation is good enough, well the food is a bouncer, not tasty but healthy surely! Placements are also done every year from different places n different companies..

Gurucharan College and it's downfall over the years.

Posted on 14 May' 15 by Ashraf Choudhury
Once the pride of the whole of Barak Valley, it has, in recent times, relentlessly disappointed guardians and students with its depleting quality of education. But hope prevails there still, as the ambitious new host of young teachers attempt to make it rise again to the heights of old days. Practical subjects are not being taught and students basically come out as graduates with no practical knowledge of the science subjects at all. The teachers, who got opportunities to serve at various other prestigious posts like administration, are now-a-days not looked up with much esteem. The compound is not at all clean and no eco-friendly activities have been seen till date. The infrastructure is not at all up to date and corrupt practises are preventing the college from attaining A++ grade from the NAAC. The college is poorly administered by the Principal, most probably due to political pressures.
