Swayam is devised so that the underprivileged students are reconciled with technology, as they formerly had no access to digital resources and remained unaware of its advantages. Thousands of faculties and teachers were chosen specially for the creation of the courses which are interactive and inclusive of the described syllabus and are available for free.

The courses which are put up on Swayam are available in four kinds, each holding specific purpose and intention, following the art of pedagogy to enrich the teaching-learning process. The four mediums of instruction are- reading material meant to be downloaded and printed, video Lectures, Self- Practice Tests, quizzes and assessments and an online discussion forum.

Using Python for Research certification course by edX is being offered to teach the learners how to use Python 3 for their research. This course aims to fill the gap between introductory and advanced courses in Python. Also, it has been designed in collaboration with the experienced faculty of Harvard University.

The instructor for this online training program is Rajshree Bedamatta, an associate professor teaching economics from the department of humanities and social sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.

The ‘Development Research Methods’ online certification program enables students to get the certificate of achievement and credit points after completing this elective course and assessments successfully. This certification course is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education.
