The Advanced Materials and Processes online course is an 12 weeks program offered by Swayam, an initiative by the government of India’s Ministry of education. The course covers the classification and basic foundation of functional and structural materials; high-temperature materials: processing, structure, oxidation resistance, and mechanical behaviour of stainless steels, co and ni-based aluminides superalloys and silicides, ceramic composites and carbon-carbon.

The Advanced Materials and Processes training teaches about shape-memory alloys: mechanisms of one and two-way shape memory effect, pseudoelasticity and thermoelasticity, reverse transformation, applications, and examples; bulk metallic glass: stability and criteria for glass formation, mechanical behaviour and examples; nano-materials: size effect on functional and structural properties, classification, properties and processing of nanocrystalline materials, multilayered and thin films coatings, multiwalled and single-walled carbon nanotubes.

The Advanced Materials and Processes syllabus covers hard and soft magnetic materials for storage devices: processing and design; piezoelectric materials: properties and processing; advanced material’s advanced processes: rapid solidification, single crystal growth, chemical and physical vapor deposition of thin films, inert gas condensation, etc.
