Admission Policy for Lateral Entry: The institute can take students in this category maximum to an extent of 20% of the total capacity subject top 60% marks in the diploma in engineering examination. The students will have to qualify in JEE and get admission in 2nd year straightway.
Reservation: As per the state government legislation during counseling, there is a reservation of 30% for girl students, 2% for green card holders, and 15% for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. BPUT considers these guidelines during the counseling of the students. However, it does not count for the institute seats available for all reserved categories during the time of admission.
Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Computer Science / IT / Chemistry / Biochemistry/ Biology as one of the optional subjects from a recognized Indian Board. The candidate must have secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics along with their chosen optional subject. Candidate from Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste communities should have secured an aggregate minimum of 40% marks.
B.Tech Lateral Entry:
Candidates should have passed minimum THREE years / TWO years (Lateral Entry) Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste category) in ANY branch of Engineering and Technology. OR Candidates should have a B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste category) and passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.
