The candidates seeking admission for the first semester of the eight semester B.E. / B.Tech. degree programme:
i. Shall be required to have a pass in Higher Secondary Examinations of (10+2) in the academic stream with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as main courses of study conducted by the Government of Tamilnadu or an examination accepted by the syndicate of Anna University as equivalent there to.
(OR)
ii. Shall be required to have a pass in Higher Secondary Examination of Vocational Stream (Vocational groups in Engineering/Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Lateral Entry Admission
i. The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.E. / B.Tech. programme corresponding to the branch of study.
ii. The candidates who possess the Degree in Science (B.Sc.) (10+2+3 stream) with mathematics as a course at the B.Sc. level are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.E. / B.Tech. Such candidates shall undergo two additional Engineering courses in the third or fifth and fourth or sixth semesters respectively as prescribed by the respective Chairman of Board of Studies.
They should also satisfy other eligibility rules as prescribed by the Anna University and Director of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, from time to time.
(Communities other than BC / MBC / SC / ST) Pass in 12th standard or equivalent with an aggregate of at least 55% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry.
Backward Class Community (BC) of Tamil Nadu:
Pass in 12th standard or equivalent with an aggregate of at least 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. The candidate should produce the Community Certificate duly signed by the Tahsildar.
Most Backward Class Community (MBC) of Tamil Nadu:
Pass in 12th standard or equivalent with an aggregate of at least 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. The candidate should produce the Community Certificate duly signed by the Tahsildar.
SC/ST Community of Tamil Nadu:
Mere pass in 12th standard or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. The Candidate should produce the Community Certificate duly signed by the Tahsildar. Note: Candidates from other states irrespective of their community are considered as OC (Other Community).
LATERAL ENTRY - DIRECT II YEAR B.E./B.TECH
Other Communities:
(Communities other than BC / MBC / SC / ST) Pass in 3-year Diploma examination conducted by the State Board of Technical Education of respective states in the relevant subjects with a minimum of 55% marks in the final year examination. Pass in any recognized bachelor's degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration with Mathematics as a subject.
Backward Class Community of Tamil Nadu:
An aggregate of 50% marks in the final year diploma examination / Final year B.Sc.degree course.
Most Backward Class Community of Tamil Nadu:
An aggregate of 45% marks in the final year diploma examination / final year B.Sc.degree course.
SC/ST Candidates of Tamil Nadu:
Merit pass is enough in Diploma Course / B.Sc. Degree course.
