I have 6 subjects in CBSE and got RT in Physics and Chemistry. This year, I am sitting for Chemistry compartment and replacing Physics to officially pass 12th standard. Next year, can I sit for CBSE improvement for my failed Physics exam? I want to appear for JEE 2027. Will there be any issues?

Hey,

Yes, you can appear for the CBSE exam next year as a private candidate to clear Physics. But since it’s a failed subject, it will be treated more like a re-appear/supplementary attempt rather than a normal improvement exam.

For JEE 2027, the important thing is that all required subjects

Yes, you can give the Physics improvement exam next year .

But for JoSAA counselling , having an RT (Repeat in Theory) can be a major issue because you need to fulfill the required eligibility and passing criteria during admission.

If you’ve already passed 5 subjects, then in many cases CBSE can still consider you “Pass,” but the important thing is whether the failed subject is a core subject or just an additional one.
